I'm looking into a computer speaker buy relatively soon. I'm hoping for either a 4.1 set or a 5.1 [Dolby Digital compatible] set for not too much over $200.00

Right now, I'm really considering Altec Lansing's 641 4.1 speaker set, running for an MSRP of $200.00 and giving a total of 400 watts. Reviews seem good on them; very few negative comments.

Any ideas? (Oh yeah, also hoping for a set that accepts digital input, though it's not as big a deal) I haven't really ever bought speakers before, so in this aspect, I'm a spot of a n00b.

Buy These. You wont be sorry. I work for these guys. We have lots of different speaker systems but we have these things cranked most of the time because they sound better then anything else.

You're certain? Forget what I posted earlier about the Altec Lansing's; I am now more geared towards a Klipsch Promedia 4.1.

How would you say the speakers you've shown fair against a Klipsch 4.1?

Well I listened to both sets of speakers at work the other day (I work at PC CLUB). The logitechs are less expensive and they put out 800 watts.

Actually, they don't. And after that, I'm starting to wonder about your opinion integrity. The Logitechs deliver only 400 watts RMS.

The logitechs Z560 Enhanced Speakers do deliver 800 Watts. I just looked at the box dude.

Honestly though the Klipsch's are good speakers and Klipsch has been making speakers a lot longer then logitech.

Take my opinion however you wish. I didn't mean to have you compare the speakers based on wattage although that is a key factor. I sell this stuff for a living and I personally feel that the logitechs produce a much better sound quality

I dare you to crack-open the satellites and woofer on that logitech set you speak of. Because in fact, each satellite is only listed as 15 W (look on the driver) and the woofer's driver is listed at 100 W. Which actually only gives them a real-world wattage of 160 W. (Despite your claim, simple logic saying that most home-theatre systems aren't even close to 800 W basically rules-out your claim)

However, I have not been able to find these at any store to test and hear them myself. And, RMS wattage on drivers is a very clear indication of their ability to produce distortion-less sound at high levels for prolonged periods of time.

Now I'm beginning to look at a certain Monsoon MH-505 set, which I've heard and are quite impressive indeed.
