Free Forums Problem :/

| Basically we have a problem when we install the free forums (Burning Board, phpbb etc.) in that once we install them, and visit the admin panel, we click the 'go to forums' and rather then seeing our super forums... we get a download message :/ usually wanting us to download 'main' or 'index'. It's really frustrating, it works with vbulletin only we're not allowed to use those on our host. We've tried uploading in ASCII and all that with no avail still :/ Any help? |

| Which host are you using? Many free hosts don't support mySQL and/or PHP, which could explain why you're getting a prompt to download the files instead of viewing them. |

| We are being hosted by www.zenosaga.com and they allow mySQL and PHP, like we said, it will run vbulletin just fine, but the others, we are having tons of problems with. We DID get one to work.. but its crap and we wants sometihing else.. <.< |

Its weird. I have installed all forums softwares and never got this kinda software. And it was on different hosts, NOt just the same one. |

judging by your problem, it seems the files don't have execution permissions. CHMOD them to 777 in your FTP program, or, if your host has shell access, ask them to "chmod -R 777 *.php". I'm not sure the syntax is correct. -R should mean recursive. It's either -r or -R. Or just ask your host to "do a recursive chmod to 777 on php files".
By the way, what kind of FTP program are you using? |

I use cute ftp/smart ftp, I think Leslie uses ftp voyager? We both upload with the problem. And I'll get Leslie to PM our host with what you say  thanks to those who've replied so far! |
