Square Enix are on the lookout for partners in the US and Europe as they seek to raise overseas sales.
The company see the US gaming market, which is the worlds fastest growing, as a counterbalance to the stagnant demand in Japan.
Michihiro Sasaki, senior vice-president, told the Financial Times:
"We need to seek co-operation with a US publisher – we need local content”
“Our strength is in role-playing games and fantasy titles, so it is a bit difficult to appeal to the US market.”
Only 10-20% of SE's revenue comes from overseas so they hope to rectify this- within three years.
