To be honest though, the whole to be continued is just the segue into the original FFVII, however SE surely knew that it would continue to stoke the coals and burn the hope that some FFVII fans have of it being remade one day.
SE have somewhat changed their stance with many of the head honchos saying its a question of timing now, instead of those confirmations of unconfirmations etc etc. That said they have a lot on their plate with remakes, spinoffs and the FFXIII and KH franchises. |

I truly believe that the higher-ups at Square Enix get some sort of twisted, depraved sexual gratification out of making the fans cling to the hope that FF7 will one day be remade.
That's why they never definitively say "No, we're not going to ****ing remake the goddamn game, now get a life you losers!".
They probably get off reading message boards like FFR.  |
