IGN has a nifty little update on FFXIII and Versus, that includes some new/more detailed info.
Final Fantasy XIII
* The opening scene will be a real-time battle scene surpassing what has been seen in the trailers
* The story begins with something from the lower world invading Cocoon and causing mass panic.
* Residents of Cocoon are fearful of the outside world, and regard "influence" from the outside world as something like a virus. Those who have been influenced by the outside world are exiled..
* The people of Cocoon are concerned about their home falling from the sky.
* People who do things that could make Cocoon fall, or who could potentially have to ability to do so, are exiled.
* The blond-haired man from the most recent trailer is big and strong enough to run around while carrying two people.
* The blond man's foot size is 33 cm.
* A playable demo is in the works, as SE wants to get one out as soon as possible.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
* The game should be able to feature battles in environments have great differences in height.
* Battles will make use of the full environment, including what is above and below the characters.
* Players won't be able to warp freely to any spot on the battle field... only to where you have placed the character's sword.
* You can throw the sword as well, and then warp to it.
* Versus will have multi-character parties, and party members will have their own abilities and weapons.
* According to Nomura, we can expect something similar to Kingdom Hearts.
* The game will include SIXAXIS support.
