FF7 Blamed for murder/kidnapping... Gamers ask WTF?

In yet another instance of seriously disturbed individuals giving video games a bad name, and the media jumping on the scent of blood, comes this little tidbit from Germany.
It seems that two 17 year old boys from Tessin, Germany were arrested over the weekend for breaking into a home and stabbing the couple who lived there to death. These fine, upstanding members of society (i.e. deranged and psycologically unstable) then apparently kidnapped a 15 year old girl and held her hostage for an hour before giving themselves up.
So what's the connection to FF7, you may ask? The idiots called themselves Reno and Sephiroth. And, what a shock, police found a copy of FF7 installed on their computers (Now, seriously, who didn't see that one coming? It wouldn't be news if video games weren't somehow involved...).
Naturally, the German media has jumped on this turn of events, calling Final Fantasy VIII a "Killerspiele" (or "killer game" for you non-German speakers). Which just goes to show that even games with almost zero blood are not immune to media backlash and public panic.
Oh, yes... and one more thing I'd like to point out. THE GAME IS 10 FRIGGIN' YEARS OLD, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Living in the past much, Germany?

****ing retarded *******s. What kind of idiots would name themselves Reno and Seph? Honestly, I hated the game, but I hate these idiots even more. I mean really, who could imitatate the awesomeness of Reno and Seph? No one. They need to get a life. Next thing you know, there'll be bankrobbers with the names Seifer, Fuujin, and Rajin. | haha germany sucks. as much as this happens, I've yet to see something really bad come out of it. It doesn't surprise me that the media would jump on the first thing they could think of, but unless they ban the game in the country, then it isn't really a big deal. |

Interesting how they show NO footage from FF7, which is at the root of this whole media mess. They delve into AC for a few moments, and then move on to first person shooters.  |
