Gamesutra has posted a Q & A session with Square-Enix's Kosei Ito. The interview brings out some details on Square Enix's plans for mobile games, and the U.S. market. Among the more interesting points made are:
- Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode was made specifically for the U.S. market, and there are no plans for a Japanese release of the mobile game.
- Before Crisis is expected to be out in the U.S. by the end of the year.
- Square Enix has about as many people working on mobile titles as it does on Nintendo DS titles.
- While working on Before Crisis, due to the lower quality of U.S. mobile technology, Square Enix has had to essentially remake the entire game. Despite this, there aren't any plans to significantly change Before Crisis for the U.S. release, as they are trying to keep it as close to the original Japanese version as possible.
- Though no plans have been announced, the possibility of porting Before Crisis to the DS was brought up... the response was that if it happened, the game would have to be reworked to take advantage of the DS touchscreen, implying that even if there are no immediate plans for a port, Square Enix has at least been considering the possibility.
