Final Fantasy VII on PS3?

Whoa... wait a minute. Didn't Square-Enix just beat this rumor brutally into the ground not a month ago? So why, then, is the Best Buy website accepting pre-orders for Final Fantasy VII for PS3? Could it be that the tech demo really WAS more than a tech demo... or is this simply a long-overdue rerelease of one of SE's most successfull games?
There's been no official word from Square-Enix either way, and the Best Buy page is scarce on details. But that doesn't change the fact that Best Buy is listing a release date for the title of December 1, 2006 on BD-ROM (PS3's BlueRay format) at a price of U.S.$59.99.

Best Buy is prolly the worst place to look up release dates and info at, just after Wal-Mart. Most like, some retard latched on to a rumor in a mag. The date and price is prolly just a random guesstimate, as they have to fill in those fields if they have an item on the website. Web-stores do it all the time.
And such an early date alone shows that they really don't know what their talking about. No one that had any clue would put a release date for this year. That's worse than EGM's rumor that it will be released next year. |

True... And I don't doubt for one moment that the release date is a load of crap. But the thing is that they have to have a SKU number for an item before they can sell pre-orders. The fact that they've listed it implies that they do HAVE a SKU number, meaning that someone in charge of distribution gave them the ok to list it, ergo the product does, or at least will, exist.
And that was my main point... that despite all their denial, SE might be redoing FFVII after all. |

| Not necessarily. This is definitely not the first case of a store listing an FFVII remake in the last year or so. |

I just called my local Best Buy. It's in their system, though the release date is 'pending', and the guy told me his screen shows the actual cover art for the title (claims it shows Cloud and Aeris and Sephiroth... astounding that I actually got the one guy who knew anything about FFVII). I might have to go out and see for myself, if they'll let me. 
Of course there's always the possibility that he was just being an ******* and screwing with me. The guys out at Best Buy generally suck.
I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. |

| release date shouldn't be an issue. There were rumors to have it released on PS2. Changing it to ps3 shouldnt take too long, considering this crap has been going on for ages. |
