Way back in February, Square-Enix had a musical concert devoted to the music of Final Fantasy. It was a one-night-only deal, and tickets sold out immediatly... but luckily for fans who couldn't get in, SE is releasing a DVD of the concert entitled "Voices: Music from Final Fantasy". The DVD will hit shelves in Japan on June 21, retailing for 4,800 Yen (U.S.$43) for the 2-disc version, 3,800 Yen (U.S.$34) for the 1-disc version. No plans for an overseas release have been announced.
In addition to the orchestra, the DVD features Emiko Shiratori performing "Melodies of Life" (Final Fantasy IX), RIKKI performing "Suteki da ne" (FFX), Izumi Masuda performing "Distant Worlds" (FFXI), and Angela Aki performing "Kiss Me Good-Bye" (FFXII). The 2-disc version will also include documentary footage, and interviews with big names like Nobuo Uematsu.
The imported DVD can be ordered here: Play-Asia.com

1. Prelude
2. Liberi Fatali (FFVIII)
3. Fisherman's Horizon (FFVIII)

| Ooh, that's nice. I especially like that they're including the entire opera. I might end up having to get this. |

If there's one good thing I can say about Squenix lately, it's that they seem to be going back to their roots a lot more. I realise it's purely for financial gain, but I'm not going to complain, considering the release of something like this. |

- THE VAULT WILL BE OPENED SOON -
I'm currently looking for gamers with an interest in the gaming culture and industry outside of Final Fantasy to help with a new, upcoming video game news site. If you think you're interested, please throw a PM my way.

I really, realy want it, too... of course after shipping, it's over $50. I'll keep hunting around and see if I can find a site with a better price. If I do, I'll let you all know. ^_^
Edit: Just noticed... Play Asia has the 1-disc version available for pre-order, as well. Not hugely cheaper, but 'tis something.

Japanese DVDs are the same region code as Europe. Horray for being Irish.
If you're using a PlayStation2 or an X-Box, the Action Replay product comes with a program that lets you play DVDs from any region. PCs are also region free, to the best of my knowledge, though finding a hack for something like that one isn't usually too difficult if your PC isn't.
If you're going to watch them through any other means? Well, I don't have the answer for that one. |
