Latest Final Fantasy III Screenshots

A large selection of images from the forthcoming Nintendo DS rendition of Final Fantasy III were publicly released recently. If nothing else, they at least give us a far greater indication of what the game will be like.
Amongst them are a set of high quality sketches of the re-imaged character, penned and conceived by character Akihiko Yoshida, of Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII fame.
It's becoming increasingly clear just from these pictures alone, that, unlike many of the past re-released games in the Final Fantasy series, this is going to be far more than just a simple remake. It's very refreshing to see the obvious level of detail and commitment that Square Enix is putting into this rendition of what is very much a memorable game for old time fans of the series, but one that many will not have had a chance to experience, since it was previously never released outside of Japan.
Unfortunately, there's little to no information as of yet as to how the game will take advantage of the unique control system of the DS, but we'll be sure to update you as soon as we know more.
For now though, feast your eyes on this lovely collection of new screenshots!

I like the idea of using the command menus via the touch screen. I assume that will be one of many ways they make use of it.
Those are some nice screens, I'm almost tempted to purchase a DS. |
