Default  Is lyrics are important?
04.05.12, 04:07:17

I have personally experienced and also do a minor survey in my friends and neighbors. I have markup that when they sing a song usually they don’t minds what they are singing and what word are they using for the song lyrics. So, the question is rising is lyrics is really important? What is your opinion about this? And how long it is fair?

Do you can speak English correctly stupid bot?

Also I'm leaving this because it's actually a worthwhile topic for discussion. Lyrics are kind of important. Good lyrics can make a good song better. Bad lyrics can make a song less effective. However, lyrics are definitely not the most important part of a song. A song can have bad lyrics and still be a good song, and good lyrics will not save a dull song from being dull.

Lyrics are good if they fit the song (repeat everything Aaron just said)

I personally like songs that have vocals but no lyrics, or songs that are sung in a different language. But of course lyrics can be the centerpiece to a song, or in some cases, they can be something unintelligible, even if in English, but it wouldn't be the same without them.

Well, as a singer and songwriter, I'd have to say yes, lyrics are VERY important. It's the lyrical content that is important.

"Your [Christian] preachments are evil and they're a direct threat to the survival of civilization. So, if you don't consider me an enemy, then you don't know an enemy when you see or hear one."
-Christopher Hitchens

Not always. But in your line of music, it is. Can't have heavy metal without the screaming.

Good lyrics are the difference between a cool sounding song and a song that you can truly connect with.

"When life gets rough, turn to music! When you can find lyrics you can empathize with and some music you can really feel, I guarantee it can be a big help to you. Guarantee!"

I don't play heavy metal. Also, in other forms of music, (excluding songs that are instrumentals obviously) lyrics are still important. Even if they are a few words, lyrics are important. As I stated before, excluding instrumentals, lyrics tell the story while vocals set the mood. But that's a whole different subject.

I think Vocals are important, but not so much lyrics. When a death metal vocalist has a very strong throat, I find it adds to the atmosphere as another one of the Instruments. I dont really care what hes saying.

Example: Incantation ~ Rotting Spiritual Embodiment - YouTube

I find it depends, a lot of songs are great and don't have any lyrics to them at all.

But when a song does have lyrics I find even if they fit the song if the person singing them make you want to rip your ears off then no I don't think lyrics are important, unless the person or people singing and actually sing very well and not like a group of dieing cats.

I wanted to change the world too. But in the end I changed nothing ~Auron
