Role Playing Help Threads

Since I've noticed in most of the role plays lots of one liners, and grammatical horrors worst than mine XD (and being worse than me makes you really bad) I decided to post this thread. Here you'll find some tips from the "Legendary RPMan", me
The Beginning:
To start you first need a good RP Bio. I highly encourage you to make an original RP Character with all the important details any bio should contain in order to help us to understand your character a bit more. Plagiarism (stealing bios from other people) is lame, against the rules and above all else, makes you look like an ass.
Unoriginal characters, such as (for example) FF Character Copies are not that bad, but hey if I could make a good bio then you can.
If you want, you can use some ideas from different stories for example, since I am a fan of FFXII, I made my character as Judge Magister. You can use job ideas from other Final Fantasy Games as long as you don't make a "clone" of another character.
The Essence of Role Play:As role players, we must put our thoughts and dreams in our role plays. The sorce of inspiration is highly importan for acomplishing those goals. For example, you can start by imagining your actions then use your writing skills to give life to your role play.
If you want, you could sit for a few minutes and think something good before posting something stupid XD, seriously that just kills any possible good RP and makes you look ....erm...even more stupid?
Anyway to get straight to the point, reading the intro post of every role play will give you a better idea on how to role play correctly. Nevertheless, if the RP doesn't have a good intro post, you could read the first few replies and see what the story is about.
Grammar:
God, seriously your grammar can't be worst than mine (much more if you were born in a English Speaking Country). Using words such as "lol", "ROFL", and "ASAP" makes you look quite nOObish in a role play. They are good for other post but in the Role Playing Central, we want you to post complete words.
Punctuation:
Then again, seemingly endless statements can give players a terrible headache and far worse, a heart attack XD, just kidding. Anyway, try to read your post a few times before clicking on "Post Reply"
Spellcheck:
Yes again, if you don't want to see your grammar as bad as mine, there are lots of programs and many Internet resources that can help you to correct your grammar, or God even a stupid dictionary can help you here >.<
If you have Microsoft Word (or any similar programs who can correct spelling) simply just copy +paste the text there and do a spellcheck. How hard is that? It just takes a few minutes and saves you lots of problems.
GodModding and powerplaying:
Please, there's nothing worse than a stupid Sephiroth/Omega Weapon/ Almighty God character wanna be. Seriously it makes you look stupid and shows your lack for respect. Mini god modding is not that bad as long as you don't take full control of the character of another member. Sometimes a god taste of mini modding, like a light "kick to the gut" can give some life to a RP.
About powerplaying, like I stated before, there's nothing more annoying than that. Seriously, if you want to be a "invincible monster and master of everything" wanna be, do it elsewhere. Also don't post such things as "instant healing" unless the ability requires a high price. For the love of God there's nothing more annoying than a three pages battle just because the characters kept instant healing themselves. Don't do that.
Finally, before doing anything stupid (like I did, believe me it's bad and makes you look even more stupid) think before clicking the "Post New Reply/Create New Thread" option. There's something worse than a nOOb, and that's a bad nOOb.
There are to kinds of nOObs:
Good nOObs: newbies who joined recently but have high hopes of success.
Bad nOObs: members who joined recently and don't even know how to act like a nOOb properly. They are as annoying as a freaking mountain of homework given to you before the start of a weekend (and that's ****ing annoying seriously)
===========================================
Anyway, thanks for reading my long RP Lecture from the RPMan (who annoyed Aerosol a lot for role playing outside of the Role Playing Central XD)
Farewell kiddos and remember
The RP Man is watching
Squall True Lionheart
The RP Man Julius Argexis
PS: Please, don't make the same mistakes I did.
1)It makes you look stupid, meh I got used to it anyway
2)It gives you bad rep, though I enjoy my Negative 20 XD
3)Gets you in trouble and earns you a possible ban (if you don't believe me ask Squizz ) |
