Serenity Island was a beautiful place, paradise to one’s eyes. Tropical climate, marvelous blue seas with the softest beaches. One came to view dreams at one’s leisure, and many healing herbs were traded from it. Shamans sung all day and night. Then, that was when the humans attacked. The raid had lasted all night, and tough negotiations were made with Serenity Island’s oldest leader- a female child, who didn’t look 15. The child banished the humans, and the humans had obliged, only under a condition. The humans were to barricade all entryway to the island. Queen Glisea agreed. Though, gated and surrounding the supposed Kingdom of Gaerin, even the most fierce warriors get lost in here. Many high level monsters lie in this dreadful place. Most are driven out in horror, if they manage to make it out at all.

Word of the Avadian raid had reached Kaislar, the kingdom of elves, who were doomed without Serenian herbs, in which healing had pursued in. Three days later, word again reached that the Serenian queen had fled her home island, the sorceress leaving many unconscious in her wake. The Avadian humans placed a 50000 gold piece bounty over her head and thus the queen had ran to Kaislar, where she met King Nhaid, telling him that the humans planned on burning Serenity island to the ground if she had not murdered the Elven King within a fortnight.

King Nhaid summoned his bravest knights to dinner that following day. The candles lay lit, awaiting who wished to attend.






Places

Serenity Island- A place where you can view dreams at leisure at a cost that is not told until you pass the Grand Trials. Also, Shamans are also known for predicting one’s futures there, for the same price. However, recently, the Kingdom of Avadia sent their best league of soldiers there to impude entry. And to pursue to find out what exactly the cost has been. Something’s not right here…

Avadia- A human kingdom of once a good reputation. The recent King has sent out reinforcements to block the way to Serenity island, ranks of men impending in the way. The Avadian soldiers are amongst the best trained in the world. Though, after the blocking of Serenity island, no kingdom was in good terms with Avadia. Avadia holds the Espere de Coeur or “hope of heart” artifact, which is the only key to Serenity Island. But only the king knows here the key lies and he certainly isn’t telling.

Kaislar- The elven kingdom of healing and prosper. Almost every building in this city is made of white and clear crystals, like a snow shrine, despite the warm climate. Both men and women are trained to use the art Myo-kan healing at a young age, even those that fight in the Military. Many outsiders come here for herbs for healing purposes. The King is said to be an heir of a Serenian. Kaislar recently broke trading with Avadian army, because a lot of healing resources are found solely on the island and with a current epidemic going around, the Kingdom is in need.

Gaerin- A half-elf kingdom shrouded in Mystery. Many enchantments are used to baracade entry to this city, including the ‘Forest of Lost Stories’ itself. It was said that anyone who had managed to enter the city have never come out , so there is little known. Many theories say the place does not exist.

Forest of Lost Stories- A place that shows fragments of the pessimistic future of anyone who enters. Located and surrounding the supposed Kingdom of Gaerin, even the most fierce warriors get lost in here. Many high level monsters lie in this dreadful place. Most are driven out in horror, if they manage to make it out at all.

Lunwe- The Jungle of halfling seers. Many prophecies are foretold here, and few inhabitants actually tell the truth of their predictions, as this is also a clan of thieves, many riches to their name. Many tricks and illusions are used to trick outsiders from enter, and only one with good self-character may enter. The leader’s a bit crazy, but the food’s great.

Sea of Lost Tombs- An odd sea where one’s human touch causes instant death. Rumoured to of once been a Serenian burial ground, it is said that the fish here are quite mutated from the plague.


Races:

These are the races one may choose from when creating your characters. This means a human cannot have purple hair or grey skin, a Halfling can’t be 12ft, an elf can’t be huge and burly, etc. Only one Serenian character will be accepted.

Serenian- A race with the age process backwards to elves. When a Serenian turns into a baby, it is casted into the ocean before it crumbles into a fatal, plague-like dust that can wipe out entire cities. Only Serenians and inhabitants of water are immune to the plague. The plague itself causes instant, markless death.

Hair: Platinium, Metallic Blue, Purple
Eyes: Most commonly adjacent with hair, but can settle as blue-grey
Skin Tones: generally light toned, as Serenians are immune to sunburn
Height Range: Slightly larger then humans. 5’11” average for females, 6’5” for males.
Usual Build: Petit to Average
Average Age: 3000, are born similar to a 30-year old human.
Distinguishing features: Usually have Greek-like tatoos


Humans- Deemed heretics for blocking entryway to Serenity island. Constant war is waged within the kingdom and those that grew tired of the war fled to Kaislar to live with the elves.

Hair: Brown, Black, Red, Blond
Eyes: Green, blue, black, brown
]Skin Tones: Can vary. (keep these real, I don’t want ANY blue skined humans, for goodness sake.)
Height Range: 5’5” average for females, 5’11” for males.
Usual Build: Average to strong
Average Age: 65
Distinguishing Features: None.


Halflings- A race of seers and thieves. Most travel in clans. It is wise to watch your earnings around a Halfling. However, those that are not seers also fled to Kaislar to live.

Hair: See humans
Eyes: See humans
Skin Tones: See humans
Height Range: 3’ for females, 3’5” for males
Usual Build: Very petit to petit-average
Average age: 90
Distinguishing Features: large ears and large, hairy feet


Elves- The noblest of all races. All usually remain in Kaislar to live as healers and archers.

Hair: Blond or Black
Eyes: Green(usually coinciding with blond hair) or Blue(usually coinciding with black hair)
Skin tones: See humans.
Height Range: 5’ for females, 5’6” for males.
Usual Build: Petit to Average
Average age: 4000+
Distinguishing Features: Pointy ears


Half-Elves- A race shrouded in complete mystery. Also greatly persecuted for not fitting well into society. Rumored to Elf and Human savages that fled to a forest of their own. However, half-elves do exist in Kaislar quite harmoniously.

Hair: Blond, Black, or Light brown(no red)
Eyes: Green, Blue, or Brown
Skin Tones: Usually light, can lean to slightly tanned.
Height Range: 5’3” for females, 5’8” for males.
Usual Build: Petit average to Semi-Strong
Average age: 500+


Alignments

Lawful-Good: You are sworn to your king and you are a huge promoter of justice. You also tend to be fickle, and naïve. You believe in only instant death, the less painful way. You also punish a lot of those who tend to go against morals. You help those in need no matter what the conditions. You would kill all against your King.

Lawful-Neutral: Again sworn to your king, and you would, again kill anybody against him. However, you may step some bounds of morality and demand information at gunpoint if necessary. However, if there is someone in need, you would oblige if the conditions didn’t veer you too far off your quest. However, if someone stands in your way while trying to gather information, diplomacy may only last so long.

Lawful-Evil: A very unusual combination. You would kill all who oppose your king, and make it painful. You would torture someone for information. Diplomacy’s not your thing, and if the law allowed, you murder all under your king’s name. And when anybody breaks the law in front of you, they had better run. Yes, you are an extreme nationalist. Though, problems of lowly people tend not to bother you and you’d walk past them and stomp on them if you’d like.

Neutral-Good: Someone not particularly sided with society, you would question your king if something didn’t seem morally right. But your heart is in the right place. If someone lies in need, you’re there, no matter what your king has to say about it. Justice is your thing, but chances are, it’s not for your king, it’s for reasons you yourself deem necessary.

Neutral-Neutral: You don’t particularly care about society, and are a pretty flexible person, without much weighing on your shoulders. Mostly someone who is nomadic, or someone just trying to live a peaceful life. If people don’t bother you.

Neutral-Evil: Oh God, another Evil person. One who is almost careless about society or people, for that matter. Though you’re not particularly against it, so you aren’t a complete menace. For the most part. Though, you’re still a big meanie, but you can be loyal.

Chaotic-Good: Again a contradicting sort of alignment. You’re a menace to society, though people love you for your great morals and good-heartedness. Though, pedaling is your thing, it usually never harms anyone- for a long term of time. Guess what, though? There aren’t many who steal for justice and society for you is completely meaningless and you’re one to rebel against it.

Chaotic-Neutral: Whoops, was that yours? It’s MINE now. You break the law, not looking for any evil, but it may sometimes resort to be like so. Again a pretty much peaceful person if people don’t rub you the wrong way. If then, they better watch their backs. You might be missing a few gold. :P

Chaotic-Evil: Yikes. You’re not only a complete menace to any society that you unfortunately tread on, but armed and dangerous. Not remotely trust worthy. Lives for gain. Will do anything for their own cause. Will kill people without meaning. Will steal and peddle and murder all in one shot. Hell has reserved a spot for you. And if not, chances are you want to live longer. And pursue some goals, killing women and children in the process.

Build: 5’5” Medium muscle tone

Weight: 155 lbs.

Features: Elfish type ears, Ice cold blue eyes

Appearance: Rayne is 5’5”, with pitch black hair that goes down to the small of his back, cold blue eyes, and a pale complexion. His voice is extremely smooth and calm under all circumstances, even if he’s on the brink of death. He wears a comfortable black jumpsuit under a grey overcoat that is always seen open. Hidden in his coat is a collection of throwing stars and his short sword.

Weapons: Rayne employs the use of a specially designed short sword. The blade has been permanently polished black, and the handle has a jade base with ornate, almost mystical carvings, and the guard is made out of highly polished steel. The sword’s name is Shadow Weaver. He also has 20 throwing stars on him at all times.

Abilities: Rayne is amazingly stealthy. He spent 50 years in private training to master the art of political assassinations. His is currently the highest price in the field, due to his level of talent and reputation for never failing a job or leaving a trail back to his employers. He also posses enhanced speed and agility due to his many long years of personal training.

Techniques: Rayne currently has three primary techniques at his disposal. Astral Flame, Infernal Twister, and Shadow Weave.

Astral Flame: Rayne focuses his energy into his first two fingers, then makes a slash, opening a temporary tear in the dimensional boundary, summoning fireballs from the Astral Plane.

Infernal Twister: This ability is purely offensive. As Rayne focuses on the wind around him, the air around him seems to darken, and his blade turns a neon shade of green. Then, when he has gathered enough wind energy, he begins to revolve on his right foot; his sword pointed outwards, then jets forward like a tornado on a warpath. Also, if he chooses to bleed on the blade before launching the attack, the winds will turn to fire when he’s spinning. This move causes some disorientation to the user, as well as burns from the flames if the blood was added.

Shadow Weave: Rayne has learned to control shadows with the power of his sword, though he has yet to learn it’s limits or why it drains so much of his energy.

Personality/Background:
A half-elf assassin, he takes any job for the right price. His attitude is cold, though honorable. When on a job, he only kills the assigned targets, but doesn’t harm anyone else, unless he is attacked. If a target is honorable and has a family, he will leave behind funds for the family to get on with their lives without the targeted individual. Not much is known about Rayne, but many speculate he has some rather lofty ambitions. He truly fits the half-elf stereotype of being mysterious, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. In his spare time, he uses his extensive funds to purchase rare or exquisite artifacts, and he fancies himself as somewhat of a treasure hunter.

Name: Serraphina

Gender: Female

Race: Elf

Hometown: Kaislar

Alignment: Lawful-Neutral

Age: Appears 19 (is really about 1,100)

Hair: black, braided to her waist with stray crops at the front.

Eyes: piercing blue

Skin: very pale

Height: 5'1"

Build: slender/athletic, though still a little frail looking

Clothing: A dark blue dress with long flaired sleeves, shoulderless. Matching blue choker with a gold pendant on it. A long brown cloak.

Bio: Eldest daughter to King Nhaid, Serraphina is reserved and wise. She is skilled in archery, having done it as a past time at her father's teaching since she was quite young, and is also agile and quick. Her outwardly mannered persona belys her energetic nature, and though she isn't always in the best of moods, she withholds an image of nobility for her father.

Personality: Mannered, but she will speak her mind. She also has a quick temper if agrovated. Gennerally though she is kind and empathetic towards others, and is always willing to help someone with a problem.

Abilities: Serraphina has the eyes of an eagle and is very lightfooted and agile. She is a very skilled archer and can hit a target dead on from a very far distance. Though she is much less skilled in close range combat, thanks to her father's overprotective nature, she can still hold her own in battle.

Weapon: A bow passed down to her from her father. It is extremely light and precisely carved. Serraphina has yet to find a weapon that better suits her.

Weakneses: As long distance is her forte, Serraphina is unable to defend herself well, and tends to take a lot of damage in close range combat. She is also unable to use magic, having never been trained to.

Bio: Adrian comes from a wealthy familly in the Avadian empire. He was to be educated as a lawyer but after only a year in school he disapeared from all records and enrolled himself at the Assassin's Guild where he became trained in concealment, stealth and anatomy. He proved to be so proficient at concealment that he failed all his exams as he was not present, but that was fine because he wasn't after any kind of degree in assasination. He uses his skills for thievery of specialised items or for planting evidence in wealthy homes or eaves dropping to find out valuable information and has grown exceedingly wealthy by doing so.
Abilities: Adrian has mastered the Shadow dancer's ability to hide virtually anywhere and in plain sight. He is a deaft hand with a set of lockpicks and can render any lock useless in minutes except for magical locks. He is acrobatic and posseses catlike agility. While he is not physically strong, he is proficient with all forms of daggers and throwing knives and can pick out the weakpoints of armor to strike massive critical damage when he can get the drop on his opponents.
His guild name is whispering shade because he also learned to throw his voice, and he uses this ability to confound and disorient his opponents when striking from the shadows, to make it sound as if he is everywhere.

Kay guys, looking good so far. Just to let you know, Ash, If you're looking at a 19 year old-ish elf, you're looking at about 1,100-1200 for age. 700 is your average 10-11 year old. And same for you, Bri. You're looking at an age of 150-155. Or your guy is about 42-ish looking.

Holy crap, what kind of elves are you talking about here? Elves are grown to maturity (i.e. 18-20 yrs in appearance) at around 200. An easy to remember trick is that Elves grow and age in a bell curve. Fast (or relatively fast, anyway) at first and slowing down over time. They appear middle aged (i.e. 40) at around 2,000. A 700-year-old elf will appear to be mid-20s.

The Elven lifespan is not a natural progression slowed down to microscopic speed - it is a magical and ethereal delaying of entropy.

Your half-elf comparison is about right, though. A 300-year-old half-elf will look to be in his mid-to-late 40s... early 50s if the human side is dominant.

Then again, if you're revamping the race in general for the purpose of this RP, disregard all that.

Anyway, that aside...

Race: Human
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Class: Dark Priest (i.e. Cleric)
Age: 32
Hair: Brown

Build: Average, a tad on the chubby side

Bio: Kalta lived his youth as a street urchin, stealing and swindling to get by, until 18 years ago, when he was taken in by a member of the Black, against his will - he had stolen from a temple master.

At first he resisted his new masters, but in time they instilled in him discipline and respect. Kalta studied for years, at first having difficulties (he had to be taught to read and write), then slowly began to excel in his studies. His apprenticeship was awarded at age 25 (somewhat later than most). He regards this as the crowning achievement of his life.

Kalta now searches for potential converts to the Black, and unquestioningly does the will of the Dark, having found prosperity within the ranks of the priesthood he never thought possible in his years in the slums.

Abilities: Kalta has the ability to fade into shadows, a technique long held secret by the brothers of the Black. He also has the ability to heal and/or exacerbate wounds, from the smallest cut (which he can heal outright or turn into a profusely bleeding mess) to the most grave of injuries (which he can stabilize or make fatal).

Weapon: A barbed staff of simple wood and nails.

Personality: Unshakable faith in the Dark has become his mantra. He seeks greater favor and greater authority among the Black. Above all, he seeks full priesthood, and will stop at nothing to attain it. This is one of the fundamental tenets of the Black - Power above all.

Bio: Born before the war when it was peaceful. Angeles enjoyed the peace but after the war came upon them, he enjoyed fighting even more. He rose through the ranks and occasionally goes on missions around the kingdom searching for information and etc. Angeles says what it is on his mind, not fearing any consequences and often get's carried away. Angeles never wears his gear in battle. He sails into battle with his weapon and casual clothes. Often has a bad attitude and talks in a low tone. Angeles rarely follows orders but due to his skills, he's a highly commended warrior.

Abilities: Extremely skilled in combat with blades, also, Angeles is fast with his fists making him skilled in hand to hand combat as well. Angeles is also very intelligent when in bad situations. In normal everyday life, he's of average intelligence.
