I don't do the "i'm going to make a hella professional post" thing, so i'm just going to dive into this.
There has been a new warning system devised for FFR that will work a lot better than the one we currently have. Here's the post i made in the Staff Lounge about it giving the details of it.
Quote:
Along with many other changes, the warning system has changed (for the betteri believe). It was originally made so that once a member gathered three warnings, they were temporarily banned, and after their fourth there was a permanent ban.
That system was done away with. It seemed as though it wasn't fair. Spamming and Flamming should not carry the same weight, but with that system it did. So we divised a new one.
This system deals with points. The members start out with 0 points. Each offense has its own weight or point value. Every time a member violates our policies, they will have a specific number of points added. A temporary ban is put into effect once the member has obtained 10 points on their record. A permanent ban is put into effect once the member has obtained 15 points on their record. Here is how the warning system breaks down:
1 point for spamming
2 points for pornography
3 points for flamming
Other offenses will be evaluated soon.
After a certain time, if the warning was deemed to be not serious enough, it will be erased from their record. This will generally happen within 2 months for spamming and 6 months for flamming.

please tell me what you think, additions, etc. i'm hoping you'll like it. i dunno if i should bring the value for temp and perm bans down though. i guess it would be proportional to 3 warnings for flamming...right? right xD |

| By flaming, do you mean really flaming or calling someone a nazi/****dog? |

| The new system is alot gentler then the old system. Personally, I like this new change. It seems if someone flames or something, they would have many chances to shape up. If not, they will get banned. I think you should the value for temp and perm bands alone. |

| Sounds pretty good, actually. I like that points are removed over time with this system. One question though: with the new system, how are habitual spammers/trolls handled? It seems like it would take a while for them to rack up the 15 points necessary for a permanent ban. Are they just going to be banned as soon as their intent becomes apparent? |

| yeah. hrmm...thinking about that...if they are the kind of people who just spam the place up with no value in posts or anything, then they will probably be atleast temp banned. if it is obvious their purpose it to clutter the forums, a different course of action will be taken. |

| Well, of course, these are just guidelines, ya know? If somebody sees this as an opportunity to porn up a forum four times because it won't warrant a temp ban, I'll ban his ass anyways. |

The point count for flaming should be raised in my opinion.
There should also be points given for things like trolling (ruining someones time online), which has gone on a lot during the past.
I prefered the old system though to be honest, allowed mods to use their own judgement. |

Likewise, 1 warning is just a warning, 2 warnings is a temp ban and 3 is a perminant banning. The new warning system will work and it's a sweet idea but i would prefer the VERY old system of 3 warnings. |
