Just wanted to let you all know that I have ordered a Dual Xeon 2.4 GHz server. It means that the site will be even more fast than now which really puts competing sites such as FFOnline to shame. This will mean that the server will go down for a short time during the upgrade process. Hopefully this won't last too long. I will post more details as I get them.

Things are really starting to look better for Final Fantasy Republic, and this hopefully means that we are at the beginning of another truly special site. Thanks for the support and enjoy the upgrade when it happens!

Not to bothered about speed meself, will this new upgrade make the forums more secure to forum **** ups resulting in months of downtime?

As long as it aint down for too long, it'll be okay. But the longer downtime is the more members we could yet again lose. I just hope its overand done with. Speed won't matter to me as i have Blue Yonder Broadband, but it will for others. Good work Mazen.

I think you'll find the downtime will be something like 24 hours at the most, although I may be wrong.
When DNET (FFD) upgraded their server it was up again within 24 hours so hopefully this will be the same if not shorter.

Dont worry about lost posts or anything either, there will be a full backup just before the server begins upgrading.

This wont be like the other downtimes as far as I know, you might not be able to go on FFR for one day, but whats one day going to hurt for a much faster forum?
