FINAL FANTASY REPUBLIC
ANNIVERSARY EDITION
Due to unexpected circumstances, Final Fantasy Republic was taken down on Saturday 24th January. The Anniversary Edition has been under heavy construction for a few weeks, so it was deemed appropriate that upon re-launch of Final Fantasy Republic, the Anniversary Edition should be unveiled to the world.
NEW FEATURES:- Bank System - This feature is used to control the flow and exchange of RP (Republic Pounds) amongst the members of the community. RP will be given to the members deemed worthy by staff, through prizes of special events, or from donations of other members. With the introduction of this new feature, and its incompatibility with the old system, all RP counts for members have been reset.
- Desktop Feature - This feature allows members to upload a picture/screenshot of their styled desktop for all to see. It allows other members to give a rating out of 10 for all members to see the overall rating of an uploaded desktop.
- FFR Card - Restored to its original state, the FFR Card gives a detailed overview of a member as well as showing latest posts, latest music listened to by the members, user comments and ratings, as well as other information.
Forum rules - Designed to do away with sticky threads, at the top of most forums, the forum rules feature prints the forum rules inside its own table for all to see. - Ticketing System - The ticketing system has been designed so that any bugs, suggestions or general questions about Final Fantasy Republic, can be made clearly and well organised so that the member can have a reference/place where they can lookup past issues in the future. Good bug reports/suggestions will earn the member RP.
- Account Activation - Never received the original activation email and are unable to contact the staff about it? This new feature will post the reactivation button on the forum home so that it will be easy to have the activation email resent if necessary.
- Turnpike Feature - Run a Final Fantasy site, and want to be an affiliate of Final Fantasy Republic? The turnpike is a banner rotator, which allows accommodating other sites banners. Random display on every page, along with logging of clicks allows for helping to build relationships with other sites. Other non Final Fantasy related sites may purchase a limited presence on the turnpike, and all the proceeds will go to funding the continued running of Final Fantasy Republic, keeping it free for the members.
- vBulletin Upgrade - vBulletin has been updated to its latest version. Recent bug fixes include optimisations of user side coding and the removal of the scrolling bug experienced by many users.
- Webhosting Services - Like the speed of Final Fantasy Republic and want some for yourself with full automatic backup facilities? Et3rnal Webhosting offers many styled and well configured web-hosting packages at 10% off to Final Fantasy Republic members. Custom hosting package are also available.

Welcome back to Final Fantasy Republic everyone!
After hours and hours and hours of work, the forums are now back in action. While it may not look that different I would just like to point out a few improvements:- Upgraded to latest vbulletin
- Rid of the scrolling bug
- Desktop feature in play
- Extending profile due to be incorporated into the FFR Card in the coming weeks
- Daily Backups facilities, so hopefully this will be the last extended downtime we ever have to suffer from
- New owner... me!

Can I just ask why the heck it's called Anniversary Edition, as far as I'm aware it's no-where near FFR's Anniversary... quoting the words of a bystander I spoke to on AIM:

Now forgive me for not jumping in line behind your rule Mazen, but to some extent that statement IS true....
Anyhoo are you planning on bringing back the Member Licences or not? As a lot of FFR's old members took a lot of pride in the FFR Licence feature. Just thinking it might be a nice addition to have back onto the FFR Card.
Oh and if it's any help, I've got a vB3 RPG System in the works if your interested, it was originally for my board but seeing as the amount of crap I've had from my host I shut my board down. So I'd be willing to convert the system around a bit for release on FFR, IF you want it? |

| I am the original creator of the FFR License. Mazen had no idea what the FFR License was. Right now I am allowing useage of it but it's like we are regressing in some sense. But we need to first find stable ground to gain footing. The current FFR Card is about 20% of the original one. I hope that can be completely restored. FFR is a big project and drains alot of energy out of everyone. But we all do what we do some that it can be the same joy for new members that come. I do agree that there is a stale air about FFR right now. To who know that FFR's anniversary is in the 4th Quarter of each year. So just don't worry the main site will hopefully be up soon. |

I am aware the Anniversary is no where near, however, the forum is already at the beginning of what will be the Anniversary Edition. By the time every new feature is fully is implemented and the site is fully upto scratch, it will be the anniversary. It does not say happy anniversary, it merely says the anniversary edition.
As for the FFR, FFD comment, we are all part of the same community at the end of the day, and I will have everyone know that I am the one who sponsered FFD to keep it alive over the last 3 months as well as purchasing and maintaining FFR. Sure there will be some conflicts, but it is still early days. Hopefully we can all settle down and things can become as they once were.
I am actively calling to bring the original creator of the site, the man which I have nothing but respect for, back into play. I of course mean, Eric Lavender (afterlab). If someone can get a hold of him I would like for him to come back to the site where I will hold him in high regard.
As for the staff issues, this is current being in the process of being re-organised. However, I need a couple of days of breathing time, so I will sort it then. It was nothing personal, or me try to show dominance, I just simply need time to relax after working hard to bring the forums back into play after the unforeseen downtime from the server crash.
I hope everyone can appreciate all the work that has been done to bring the forums back alive and I only hope that more can be done. As for suggestions, comments etc, can all missing features, proposed features and other things that members want back please be posted in this thread for my reference. I have the original backup of the site/forums and I will filter through and pull from them all the features that the members want back the most, recoding them if needs be.
Thats all I have to say for now. Enjoy the forums, and I how you enjoy having me as the new leader of the site.

| Battle System ideas are progressing, however, this may take sometime if Final Fantasy Republic decides to create a Battle System, with all the ideas it would be the best Battle System known to a Final Fantasy site. It would attract new posters, as there would be requirements to meet before playing. Well, i can;t really give anymore information out as it's not a top priority, and not many ideas have been given in. |
