This is for discussion on the news article, Final Fantasy XI Soundtrack In Production. This article can be found here: http://www.ffrepublic.com/cgi-bin/ne...?id=1018749228
======================================
To keep in Squaresoft's Final Fantasy tradition, there will be a Final Fantasy XI Official Soundtrack and collection to complete the game experience. The 2 CD set will contain 51 songs, which is in comparison, shorter than your average FFVII-X soundtrack. The FFXI soundtrack, featuring music composed by Nobuo Uematsu, will be available June 5, 2002, exactly 20 days after the release of the Final Fantasy XI game in Japan. Squaresoft is also planning on releasing a limited edition of the Final Fantasy XI soundtrack, which will feature 2 discs of music plus a DVD disc packed with FMVs from the game.
The regular version of the soundtrack will sell for 2854 yen ($22 USD) and the limited edition will be 3500 yen ($27 USD), which seems to be less than Final Fantasy soundtracks normally sell for. |

Hmmm, that's prety quick for a release of a SndTrk, and yes it is cheaper than normal.
What I'd really like to know now, is what tracks will be included, from FFXI. But since that would give away what some of the songs are for a game that isn't even released, I doubt we'll be able to hear much more about it 'til early next year.
I'm glad to see the site actually for updated though! I think after the battle system, that the site should get some much needed attention, it's severly falling behind the forum for superiority... And that's just me dancing around the subject.

| Yes, agreed. The Final Fantasy Republic site is getting a LARGE upgrade. Everything is being recoded to a more stable PHP state, which in return will give me, the administrator, more options for interactivities. I'm currently installing more options for Forums and Site integration. All i've got done now is Latest Posts. |

Wow, great. I'm glad to hear the site is also being worked on the side at least. FFR - Forums are already more badass than anyone else. But I've seen much better FF sites to be perfectly honest.
Merging the Forums and the Site like that is genius though, that would be very nice. Give it a real "Community Feel", as the name implies "Republic". Personally I'm looking forward to the site more then the forum upgrades. Little pluses to the forums are great, but the site is the big deal, and I've always liked web design, so I'm eager to see what your going to do with it.
Keep it spiffy Afterlab!

What kind of music is FFXI going to have? By that I mean what kind of style should we expect, or what style do you expect? (Talking to the reader in general) I think it'll be kinda like FF9's music, given the setting, and feel of FFXI thus far. What do you think?

Integration? Large, stable PHP state? This all sounds wonderful, and as FFGnome said, these forums are going to get a real 'community feel' about them. And yes, the FFR forums are better than any other FF forums in existence...in fact, the FFR forums could be the most advanced VB in the world...
Anyway, this soundtrack sounds rather disappointing. Because FFXI is an online game, I presume they're going to save on the music. Besides, there won't be a single player game to follow with different pieces of music for every event. For instance, in FFVII, there was a small piece of music for Cloud's flashback scenes, and in IX, there was a small piece of music for Dagger's fainting scenes. I presume that XI won't have half as many of these scenes, due to the fact that it's a "Get in there and battle" online game. I won't be buying this soundtrack, I'm afraid. |

Rainecloud, not to bust your bubble, but FFR is Not one of the most advanced vB's at all. If you take out the whole battle system of FFR, you're not left with anything special anymore.
Anyhoo, yay, FFXI soundtrack. Won't be available to buy here, ever, most likely, so that'll be MP3'ing it again, probably... |

| You can already preorder this product at Gamemusic.com, but at a higher price. ($40.00-so dollars). It's out of stock now, but they could get more imports ready and open more spots soon, so check back. |

| A soundtrack would be nice to have available for visitors and members alike. I too would very much enjoy listening to the soundtrack, if you need assistance compiling the song list let me know. I am always free to help out. |

What can I say, recoding has its advantages. Instead of midi's, afterlab, on the "eJukebox" can you start tuning mp3. If you want I have a vast amount of FF music since the gaining of my laptop. I like the update news, it's always great to hear back feedback from you. Thanks.
