Details of the Tournament: Entering
================================================
The Tournament will be held at two forums, Shinra Online and Final Fantasy Republic. Heidegger (myself) will host matches at both forums. 16 Members from FFR, and 15 from SO (One, Blank_02, the winner of the Fourth one, is reserved) will be selected on a first come, first serve basis. Entries are selected by the following: Members entering should have a IM account, it makes life very easy. My details are as follows:
AIM: headofsapo
YIM: thelegendaryresidentevilmaster
MSN: sac1exs@hotmail.com
Having these services allow me to contact entries and arrange matches. Because of the unreliability of entries, matches will be determined on a random basis, ie. when two entries are online at the same time, and know the games (read below). To enter the tournament, members must either: Post their IM service handle in the entry thread, email me (see MSN), or PM me at the respective forums. The first entries have the right of reservation and cannot be thrown out unless those entries are not on during my times. To enter the tournament you MUST be available during the times from 12-2 PM on most weekends and holidays, and 7-8 PM on weekdays. You don't need to be on at all of these times, just one time, even on one day of the week is OK.

Rules of the Tournament
================================================
1. Game is won in three ways. 1. Player reaches 3 Points. 2. Opponent hits -3 Points. 3. You have (AT ANY TIME) 3 more points than your opponent.
2. Answering first poses a risk. If a player answers first and is incorrect, he/she loses a point, and the other player may answer. There is no risk for answering second.
3. To gain a point, a player must answer the question correctly. Spelling does count unless the rules are set otherwise. Note that since some players have different translations of the games, there will be added leeway for their answers, however, the same leeway must be given to the opponent.
4. Players WILL be disqualified for editting or deleting their answers. FIRST RESPONSE COUNTS.
5. There is no time limit, however, competitors may say PASS to move the game faster. Note there is no penalty for saying PASS.
6. For regular matches, there is a 10 Question limit. If players are tied at the end of the 10th Question, we go into 3 question sudden death. No penalty rule for that, just the first person to get a question right wins.

Format of the Tournament
================================================
Just like the real thing, Each forum will have matches hosted up to the Semi-Finals. Players will not be mixed. However, the 2 Finalists of each forum will face off with counterparts in the other forum. The result of those two matches will decide the Grand Finals which can be held in many ways.
IF the two resulting Finalists are from the same forum, a final match will be held with the following rule changes: No penalty for answering incorrectly first, 5 points win, players can take multiple shots at the question PROVIDED that the two players alternate, where one player cannot try to answer the same question twice in a row before the other. Passing here will give the opponent one last shot at the question and STOP the cycle. This rule is in place due to the sheer difficulty of the questions.
IF the two resulting Finalists are from different forums, then the fun begins. There will be a BEST OF THREE series where the original rules are in place, except points cannot be lost. Note that the alternating rule is NOT in place. Each player gets one free no risk shot at the question. The questions here will also be very difficult. The first match will be held in Shinra Online, the second at FF Republic. Should the score be 1-1, then the forum for the last match will be chosen based on the results of the two previous match (ie, who does better gets the home field advantage).

Games and Basic Handling of Matches
================================================
Questions for the Prelims, and Q-Finals will be relatively easy. Players will be subjected to rules of the game. There have been complaints that those with faster modems have an advantage. This notion is TRUE. It can't be helped though. Players are urged to get on computers with broadband connections. However, matches on S-Finals will be a bit harder and modem advantage is reduced. The Finals will be brutal but still, players should atleast be on 56Ks.
Each entry MUST know (ie. MUST have beaten) one of the PSX FFs, ie. FF7-9. More is helpful. Players have the choice of adding FF4, FF6, and FFX to the list, but note that many haven't played those, and they can't be considered the only games for play.

I'm in. Just because I think I deserve it.

EDIT: No comment on what side I will be participating in. Lets just say, you'll see where my loyalties lie.

I will decide to actually sit this Tourney out. Not for the fact that I don't know my FF Trivia, but because of the fact that I won't be able to be on AIM or MSN much, due to some.. Secretive reasons.
