Many elected moderators shouldn't be Super Moderators.. That's my rule.
|
Then what is your logic and point behind the "normal" moderator status? A shiny badge, a funny smile, some rp to throw around at people between giggles at follow up threads? I guess the status "moderator" is about as meaninguful as dirt on the ground, it's like a soldier without a gun. People look up to you, but you can't delever. What is the point? Might as well call normal moderators, "Lackies".
However afterlab, I do agree with you over the banning issue. All new mods shouldn't be able to ban. I agree with you on that. BUT they do need to be able to protect the board from spammers, porn posters, and jerks etc -- they should have the power to lock/delete threads cross-forum. |

But the whole staff wasn't aware that the newly elected moderators would go straight to super moderators. |

That is true. I'm just stating that they were modded fairly. They just shouldn't have been made S-Mods without further consultation with the rest of the staff. |

| But if S-moderation is the issue here... Wasn't it also decided that all new smods should be demoderated down to mods? and also that a new modhip rank would be created, with less limitations but without full s-mod powers..? |

If that is the way you want it, then call yourself a peasant.
We have a leveling system. If you're a member, you can only be a Moderator afterwards. From moderator, you can be a super moderator. From super moderator you can become an economic officer, and so on. No skipping of leveling here, like what happened earlier.
It's the only way that we can tell if you are ignorant, patient, honorable, honest, and a worker.
Moderators are nothing but people who moderate specific forums.
Super Moderators are people who moderate ALL forums.
Economic Officers are people who moderate ALL forums and RP amounts. |

| Leveling, I'm still laughing. So I guess trust and confidence really ARE based on membership length instead of the many conversations we might've had with staff on IRC, on AIM, and all the input we've granted to the forums themselves. Time is a shotty method for judging someone's credability, and the flaws in currents mods should be a dead give away to this fact. |

| Levling has little to do with membership time, Mecanon. If you'd observe, we have a openly diverse group of moderators. |

I guess by worker you mean, blundering around the forums long enough to escalate your post count to a satisfactory level. Perhaps by just being at the forums for a long time, wandering around until the time comes. As mecanon has said, time is not only a silly mean of selection, but also very cliqueish and funny.
I ask you again, what is the point -- the logic -- behind someone who can specifically moderate on only one forum? There is no reason, you're not even a moderator. You can't protect the forums, you can't uphold the rules, you can't even stop jerks who try to distrub the peace. Like I've said, I guess it just means smileing alot and passing out RP to follow up threads.
Like I've said, for all of us who were modded and had it stripped from our body like a gay police officer doing a cavity search (Vice City!) -- it's not only frustrateing to see this happen, it's also an obvious sign of conflict between the aminstration. Something that isn't good to show. |

It's the difference between 40,000 posts and 400 posts, E_E. If someone is to abuse their powers, then I'd rather 400 posts be deleted then 40,000.
It's also a good way to see that if you can (or can't) take at least one forum, then we all know that you can't take any more forums. |
