In our previous poll about the rep system, the consensus from the members seemed to be that the system, as it currently existed, was worthless or at least terribly flawed. I'm not terribly fond of the way the poll was carried out, however, because a couple of already proposed solutions were left off the poll and it wasn't allowed for members to vote in favour of more than one. So here's a new poll.

In the end what we do with the system will be up to the staff, but it looks like the staff are largely in agreement with the members at the point that, if the system is not removed, it will at least require a major overhaul.

Please vote either to keep it or to get rid of it. If you vote to keep it, you can choose to vote for as many additional options as you wish, as long as they're not mutually exclusive ("Require a good reason for rep" and "Remove the reasons for rep" are the only categories I think this applies to)

My current choice is to keep it, to require valid reasoning for any donation of rep, and to make it private to everyone except the individual and the staff. I think the reputation system is a great way for members to give each other anonymous feedback, but as it exists it turns into far too much of an e-penis contest.

I like it how it is. I think it's fine, bt there maybe shouldn't be flaming in the comments. The rep system is great i think. It tells you what other members think of you. ANd if they don't like you, if you really want to be liked it could tell you where you can improve upon yourself. But i say keep the rep system as it's a nice edition to the forums. As long as there is no major flaming.

Deep inside, I feel the "Moderate comments to require more reasoning than 'I agree' or 'I disagree'" option would be best for the system, but first that would require too much boring work for staff, and secondly I like it how it is; it basically reflects whatever drama occurred that day (in fact, a system that just displays the + or - of your rep over the last 48 hours, say, would be great).

But so what if people rep someone for pwnage, or negrep for disagreeing with them? It's not something that should be taken seriously. I voted for removing the comments, mainly because having to hit the space key everytime to prove a reason is annoying.

I honestly wouldn't mind moderating rep myself. With the amount of rep that usually gets donated, it would probably only take about ten minutes a day.

I don't see the point. Boring, waste of time. It's just something for the people who want make themselves feel better by getting REP. Just causes drama in which we all do not need.

Rep doesn't make me feel better about anything. I've been a total douchebag for the last two weeks and my Rep has skyrocketed, but neither really has any effect on how I actually feel. I get more out of repping other people than getting repped myself.

I REPPED you, Abel.

It's just stupid. Therefore, entertaining.

Let's get rid of it and keep it.
