Since we are here for you, the forum staff wants to know what additions, changes, or fixes you want to see made around the boards. Serious posts will be posted and discussed in the Staff Lounge and may or may not be acted on.
Please limit yourself to legitimate posts (i.e. no "make me mod, plzkthnx," "ban so-and-so," "kill Bush," or anything remotely close in nature). Constructive criticism or praise is always welcome. If there isn't something you want to see done, or you have no input on what someone else suggested, don't say anything.
This is your chance to have some input. Once this thread stops being useful, it will be closed. |

Hmm this might take a while.
1) The header banner looks ****. No offence to whoever made it but its not blended very well and looks a bit dodgy. Get Phildildo or someone to make a good one. The blending between the middle bit and the left hand bit that is, the right hand bit is fine.
2) The navigation thing underneath the header. Change the folder icon to the ShinRa logo, and remove the whole thing from the forum home page.
3) Dunno if it happens to anyone else, but now and again the bit where users avatar and stuff is (next to the nav thing) sometimes jumps across to the right. Might wanna sort that out.
4) Make a proper shoutbox with a quick reply bit. The thread is pretty ****. Its really annoying having to come out of the thread everytime after you've made a shout too.
5) Replace those really horrible default icons in the journal with some that go with the forum style.
6) Archive the old events.
7) Contact old affiliates or get new ones (will help to advertise the site)
8) Make it so that it doesnt show the sub forums on the forum home, makes some bits look a bit too cluttered.
9) Resolved feature in midgar library (I already said about this though in another thread)
10) Restore desktop and licence feature
11) Get rid of those horrible white border things around the bits on the right hand side of the forum home. The things that Marzan put there.
12) RP economy and shoutbox stats still dont work (I mentioned this to Aaron already)
13) Unstick this thread.
14) Some of the forum title images still arent working (I mentioned this to Aaron too)
15) The FFR Card image needs restoring.
16) Is there any way of getting rid of that horrible cream colour around the reply boxes?
17) Make it so that the 'Donate Rep' button doesnt appear on your own post bit (like the donate rp button).
18) The bit where it says "Activity", under statistics on the forums home needs to be changed to the same font as all the rest.
Thats about it I think. I'll add more up if I think of them. |

I'd like to mention a few ideas, not exactly major ideas, but perhaps some things that could be done for the good of FFRepublic.
1. It's a fresh start. Old members are returning and new members from ACF, FFOF and FFE are arriving. With it being an all new slate, I think perhaps a Forum Log thread should be produced. Seperating the done, in the works and to be started things with different colours so we all know what's under construction, and what to expect in the near future. We're kind of asking one another questions about the battle system, guild system, gold saucer, website, etc. The communication with features etc is quite low, and could be improved upon very simply.
2. I believe it'd be wise to hold several events. I know we have the banner competition underway, and I obviously know about the Repubbies, but other than posting about in several threads, I think that there could be more events. I was thinking of organising something with Turks about an inter-forum role-playing tournament to kick things off there in addition to the 'Roleplaying Central' and one on one battles. I know more events would be nice for the members, and it'll set a nice Republic Points span around for when the Gold Saucer re-opens and the itemshops of armour, weapons, magic, etc.
3. Gold Saucer, one of the best things in FFRepublic to build up your account. I think adding more to it would only create a better account devolpment situation. We've all got custom titles, custom avatars, easy username changes, and I'm sure we'll get Desktop and Liscence free soon too. Perhaps add midi song to your profile? Change your username colour? Re-introduce the FFRepublic lottery? Alot of these come free with Lesane's VBulletin store hack, so I'm sure they're easily custom codeable.
4. Will you marry me, Kirstin?
Overall, I just believe more communication between forum staff and members would be for the best. Sorting out the new features in the not so distant future, holding more events would be for the best. Just let us know what's going on, it'd be highly appreciated. I can see the Staff Lounge, but I don't see many things planned for the future. There's plenty of good ideas, but they don't get anywhere. If they do, they aren't noticeable. Make FFRepublic a professional, well-organised forum where the members matter more than anything. That'd be like the old FFRepublic; when it was at it's best. |

Yar, very good idea. A 'To do List' sort of thread of what the staff are currently working on would be great.

If we do an RP'ing tournament of some sort it wont be for a while yet though. We need to get the RPT active enough for it to be worth doing first, which I'm currently working on with the help of a few others like KoK, Shenorai and Khaeos Drao-kin.
I forgot all about the Golden Saucer.
Edit: Just to add another one in - the referral system we used to have needs to be restored. The thing where you can fill in a form to email people you know and it invites them to FFR. Theres also a bit in the registration form where you can put the persons name who referred you to the site. That person then gets 500rp for referring a new member. |

To be honest, I think this has more to do with the fact that we're still getting the place sorted. Restoring features, improving the front page (don't forget that there is a website too.  ), getting a well constructed staff together. Everyone is off their feet sorting stuff out, and I think it'll be a few weeks before everything finally gets settled down properly. Once that's done, then we can finally start planning the future for the place more coherently.
Anyway, this thread is very much for the purpose of getting the members involved, and offering some ideas for direction we can take. I don't have any suggestions of my own right now, but I thought I'd just add my own two cents to that point.  |

The same old FFR is just coming back is today, a week old. In seven days, it should be sorted out (the affiliation between staff and members), future plans. Let's not forget, FFRepublic has a huge history between us, so there's no need to take more than a week to sort out the future plans. It's not like the members don't know what they want. |

I'd be lying if I said things were orginised, and I do agree with that point. I feel like I need more feedback in the Site Staff forum, and that ideologies are mixed, but there's no denying that's improved in the last two days.

I think that's expecting a bit much. People are rushed off their feet as it is, and they also have priorities outside of the internet too. Things are slowly getting sorted out and improved upon. It'll just take time.
What I mean is, we ned to get the current plans done first, the essential stuff, like the RP economy and Gold Saucer, and then we can start on the future plans. |
