Time to welcome our first new permanent staff to FFR.

I'd like to welcome .elementus and ECCENTRICHOCOBO to the fold as Economic Officers. Both of them have served the forum in high-ranking positions several times in the past, and have shown themselves to be more than mature and capable enough to manage this place since its reopening. I have no doubt that they will make excellent staff members.
We haven't really had a proper explanation of everything that's gone down since FFR's closing on the forum, so I'll take the liberty of making this thread into that as well. As you're well aware, the previous owner of FFR was ZranX (real name Mazen, also nicknamed Marzan), and his leadership style was... erratic, to say the least. He'd handed the forum over to Kirstin (EC, who we just promoted  ) for the time being, though; but unfortunately, she had to take a vacation from the forums, and it was determined that without any super administrators around the forums, they were better off closed for the time being. However, when she came back, Mazen was so absorbed in FFXI that he couldn't be arsed reopening it.
So yeah, that's the complete explanation of why FFR went down. Feel free to swear at Mazen. I know I did.
About a month ago, ZranX posted a thread on **** noting that FFR was for sale, and Edman, in perhaps a momentary lapse of reason, decided to purchase it. So it has been lovingly renovated for everyone's enjoyment.
This is by no means the extent of the people who will be promoted; these are just the first two people we came to a consensus on. Also, staff might and probably will not be drawn exclusively from veterans (although we will be promoting a fair number of them). Finally, the current staff lineup is also by no means permanent; there can and probably will be departures and replacements from the staff in the next several weeks.
I suppose you can feel free to ask any questions about the running of the forum here, as well (although the Midgar Library is also fine for those). We've been rather lax about the enforcement of the rules (there aren't many of those; the primary one is don't be a dick) this first week, but that's probably going to change somewhat in the next couple of weeks. Not too much though; none of us wants to see this place turn into another FFO, ACF or EoFF.
Anyway, sorry for rambling, but I do that sometimes. Please join me in congratulating our new staff members.  |

Well it's nice to hear a explanation for all the down time at last! ha ha ha!
In addition, I would like to congratulate EC and .elementus on their promotions. I know you'll do good jobs, because if you don't GZ will be angry!

I probably ought to have mentioned as well that we're determined not to let drama from past incarnations of FFR influence the decision-making process too much, because let's face it, we were all two years younger back then, and quite a lot less wise. It's all well and good to reminisce about old times, but when it comes down to giving people crap for stuff they did ages ago, that's kind of... crap.
Anyway, just wanted to get that out there since I forgot to mention it in my first post. I'm sure our new staff members will do fine. |

That is the way to go. We should treat this as a new start, a chance to connect with new people and let the old rivalries die.

Twist - an economical officer is basically an s-mod who has the ability to give out RP from the forum bank. |
