As I said, Gadwinus. *bows*
Quote:
"Millipede"
Half-lying on its side
Legs waving up in the air
Wiggling, wriggling
Curls up and tips over
Trying to regain balance
This is a bit like humanity.
Always trying to get up straight;
Usually failing.
In an attempt to tip itself upwards,
It rears up, half its body raised,
Almost standing proudly,
In a pose of sheer defiance
Against so many odds.
A bit like human pride.
It won't let itself stay down for long
A human's best point, perhaps.
Inevitably, it falls down
Still continuing, despite the pointlessness,
Struggling helplessly
In a pathetic plead for balance
To get back on its feet
Smacks of what humans do!
Struggle, find a point in life,
Maybe actually succeed...
I watch it as it goes around and around
It can't straighten out
Stunted, fatally maybe,
But it's still wriggling! Waving
Its moving legs!
Really like human things
Just never giving up sometimes
Even when it seems hopeless.
Daddy told me to put it in the garden.
He didn't appreciate my attention to it,
Intently, silently,
I watched it for a while longer
Gently bopping it with my pen
Well, humans, like the millipede,
They may curl up just like it, hiding
But once left on their own...
I don't know what happened to it
I hope it's okay, though, uncurling,
This time, gripping
The ground outside and feeding;
Hopefully surviving in my backyard.

This piece was really inspired by a millipede. I was VERY tired and sleepy at the moment, and in that state I can write about the weirdest things.

"Sex Candy"
This is such a perfect piece of candy:
Filled with sugar and coated with bodily lust,
Luringly scented, with pheremonal perfume.
Add a dash of twilight promises on the top
And washing waves of warmth
The candy of delight, all for the satisfaction
Of the pleasure principle.

This was taken from my spam thread. Don't look at me. Please. *hides*
Quote:
"You Found Your God"
Last night, I lay awake
And I listened to your cry.
You were crying out for your God.
Last night, I fell asleep
And dreamt that you did die,
Going to the arms of your God.
Gently, you gazed up
Into your face of truth,
Eyes filled with pulsating adoration.
Gently, your God spoke
Of forgiveness, to you,
Granted you absolute salvation.
Last night, I stayed up.
I prayed for your lost soul.
A smile touched my lips when
Last night, I realized
That you'd reached your goal.
May you have found your rest then.

This was inspired by Loreena McKennit's song in which she croons "Did you find your god?". She was inspired by her visit to Mecca, listening to the Muslim morning prayers. The day I wrote this, my father's Muslim friend had called to say his mother had passed away. I remembered the 5 o'clock prayers and the sounds moved me. So there it is.
Quote:
"Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat"
Fortis!
The smell of victory assails me!
The hands of goddess Nike
I feel on my face!
Fortuna!
Rushing to the fore!
The gallant touch of chilvary
Released in a primal scream!
Adiuvat!
Over fallen warriors!
Death has its silence intruded
In this battlefield of war!
Angels soar so high above...
Swooping on their bloodied wings...
Tears... running down their faces....
They are crying...
Oh, brave young souls...
Oh, brave young souls...
Thrown away....
Like dust.....
|
This is perhaps one of the more perfect of pieces I've ever written. I adore it so so much. "Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat" means "fortune assists the brave". When I wrote it, I just wanted to express my feelings from thinking about Escaflowne battle scenes. *grins* Later on, I figured that it DOES show a certain, tragic irony aboutt he whole situation of war.... don't you think?
And yeah, that's all. =) Well, not really, but I think some have already been showcased in that poetry thread. |

Quote:
"I Knew It All In The Storm"
Zephyr blew strongly across the street
As I wandered blindly through, stumbling
Seeing only foggy lamplight illuminating raindrops
Crying out pathetically as my outstretched arms
Reached for anything to hold onto,
For comfort from the storm, then I tripped.
Cringing, the world flew by slowly
I braced for the impact of stone against my face
Falling, instead, into your arms...
And in that moment, I knew
Safety.
Unsteadily back on my feet, catching my breath
Looking up at you, trying to see your eyes
Veiled by the heavy rain that fell between us
Wanting to see you, needing to see you
But you reached through and closed my eyes,
Enveloping me in darkness and thunder,
Leaving me only with sensations of your fingertips
Trailing across my face, like the raindrops danced
Almost an eternity, lulling me into quietude,
My heart almost stopping, skipping beats
Before your breath touched my lips,
And in that moment, I knew
Ecstasy
How many torrid moments passed between us
As your arms sinously found their way around my body
Fingers weaving into my hair and roaming for bare skin
Your cheek rubbing against mine while you whispered
Promises I long to hear, but too afraid to believe.
Kisses like rain, sliding across my face languorously
Intensified by the mingling of moist, warm breath
Adoration no longer abstractly dwelling in the mind
But rising out, engulfing me in an aura of enchantment
A lure for the suppressed responses inside me
Heated rhythms in gentle waves of passion
Washing over two undulating bodies
And in that moment, I knew
Pleasure
The air around us no longer cold
Replaced by the warmth of bodily lust
And I heard you whispering again
As your grip on me loosened, until we were apart.
I didn't want to let you go, I wondered why
But you only smiled and touched my face softly,
Taking a bow, and turning to walk away.
Tossing a smile over your shoulder,
Just like the sun breaking through
Leaving me, in the hollow daylight,
On my knees, watching you go.
And in that moment, I questioned
Love.

Quote:
Promises of kisses 'gainst waiting lips
Breathless gasps 'neath fingertips
Cries elicited from two bodies' fusion
Eyes closed to keep the illusion
Of the seamlessness in being together;
Fantasies weaved in the name of forever
Fingers entwined, hands joined tight,
Hiding emotion, in the depth of the night,
Not risking a move, nor daring to breathe
Out flighty dreams, senselessly conceived
Terrified all shadows will flit away
In surrender to the reality of day
And in the silence accompanied by rain
Waiting for the other to speak again
Mind drowsily lulled by even breathing
Passion slowly building, gently seething
Hearts laid out in gentle disclosure
Dazzled by the thought of a future
Perhaps lonely souls could be more strong
If only love knew where it belonged.

| *stunned* Those poems were really amazing. I haven't seen ya for a while but your work has improved tenfold! The last one is spectacular. Heh...it made me giddy. Great work. *goes onto repeat himself with different forms of praise* |

*chuckles* Thanks, but that's really just the same standard as previous ones, just a different style. First one I wanted to write something which tested the extent of my vocabulary, and the second one was a similar exercise in rhyming. But then... they were both inspired by a special someone... =/
But it's nice to see you again, Phyxius. I've taken a look at your new poetry thread ^^ Are you certain you didn't check all threads 'from the beginning'? ^^ At any rate, when I have more time (hopefully tomorrow), I'll give ya a full rundown on my thoughts on your particular style. *hugs* |

Um... yeah, I'm back. Yay.
Quote:
"Not Soft Enough"
This morning, I lay on my bed
Looking at how my hair spread out
Across the pillowcase.
I wondered why there was no one with me
And then I heard a small-hearted voice:
"No one will love you,
Your hair's not soft enough
Not smooth nor silky to the touch
Messy, with split ends,
A shine that lacks luster."
Today, while I played the piano,
Watching how my fingers splayed out
Across the keys.
Saddened, why was there no one listening
And then I heard a small-hearted voice:
"No one will love you,
Your hands aren't soft enough
They're wiry, scrawny, and rough
The skin is thin and dry
With nails unevenly cut."
In the evening, I washed my face
The soap suds sliding off my skin
Across the water.
Alone, I wish for someone close
And then I heard a small-hearted voice:
"No one will love you
Your cheeks aren't soft enough
Scarred with blemishes past
Too dry, too oily, not clean,
Or ragged with little scabs."
At night, I cried myself to sleep
The tears dampening my face
Upon the cold bed.
Yearning for someone near
And then I heard a small-hearted voice:
"No one will love you
Your heart's not soft enough
Hardened by blows it's taken
Though the doors are open,
The ice walls turn people away."

Quote:
With broken voices, they called out to me
Begging for absolute forgiveness
With broken souls, they came crawling to me
Grovelling to my sweet illusions.
On their knees
They look up to me
Eyes filled with adoration
On their knees
They prostrate to me
Crying out for salvation.
With broken hearts that they'd sacrificed
Laid on the altar of pure lies
With broken dreams that they've given up
Flowing away on a river of ice.
In their souls
You can feel their desperation
That I could pick out from their heart
In their souls
You can touch their isolation
As they beg for my love to never depart.

Quote:
"Beggar"
Beggar by the roadside,
Starving down to hell
Listening to the hymns from church
Wishing the world well.
Slowly drags himself
To the churchman's door
Clutching at his stomach,
Collapsing on the floor.
Prayer on his lips
Voicing a weak plea
Lifting his blurry eyes above
"God, take pity upon me."

Quote:
Angel standing all alone
Watching over the cold world
Feeling sorry for the boy
And the hungry little girl
Angel flying all alone
Wond'ring when all wars will end
So our spirits slowly rest
And gentle tired hearts can mend
Angel sighing, with her eyes
Sweeping gazes 'cross the seas
Gently breathing soothing winds
Past the cheeks of you and me
Angel murmuring prayers too
Just for me and and just for you
Heard our wish for the new day
Hoping too that dreams'll come true.
