Meh, I haven't really done any stunning work while on my art course as of yet, although my work in the life drawings class is 'lin quality lately if I do say so myself. Unfortunately my life drawings are at college, and I'm here, but what I am going to post up is just a few random things I got out of my sketchbook. Ordinarily, because they're A3, I'd scan them in two parts and join them in photoshop, but because of the mediums used (charcoal, pastels) in these few pieces, I don't really want things to touch them, already a few of the pieces are looking worse for wear, so I used a digital camera and got them up like that, so the quality of images isn't as good as they should be xD
That was an observational drawing I made back in November I think, inside that tate modern gallery, the first piece you saw was this huge sun type thing over at the far side of the main hall, it was dark in there except for this dull yellowish light and the object that stood out most was this half sphere sun, and everything was reflected in a mirrored ceiling. Anyway I didn't have much time to work there so I whipped out the pastels and got a rough observational drawing down as fast as I could over two pages, mostly making sure I got the perspective right. It was quite difficult because in the dim yellow light you couldn't really tell what colour pastel you were using, like I did all the black stuff in purple at first, and I had to rework that a bit xD. I plan to redo this piece with oil paints or something at a later date, which is pretty ambitious seeing as I've never used them before, but I'm confident I can do a better job with 'em.
Also in November I think, the class visited the British Museum to see the medicine man exhibition. I got quite a few observational drawings done in pencil, but it was this drawing of a mask in pastels that I liked most, only thing that annoys me about it relly is the way the right hand side looks flat, especially around the eye.
Back in October our class went to the Goodwood sculpture garden near Brighton, I remember that because it was the day before my birthday, and again, I got quite a lot of observational drawings done, ranging from five minute sketches to lengthy detailed pieces. I had limited space on my camera so I just snapped this charcoal drawing I did of one sculpture, which is called "the tree of knowledge" it's like a tree, on top of a book, on top of a bloke's head, then there was this boxy thing it stood on. I dunno, it looked good though xD so I drew that, this piece looks better in real life than on the pc but it aint a bad representation of it.
So yeah, nothing spectacular but I figured I'd post something.
Cheers man, I don't particularly like them but if other people do that's cool xD
Meh, I did a quick sketch the other day thinking of a diffrent image for my RPB character, Sarakon, the sketch was alright so I spent about an hour doing a relatively quick inking on it last night - http://www.geocities.com/lennonlegend2004/sarakon2.txt
Simon, Those 4 images are all really good, both the man and the tree type of image caught my eye to be the better of the four. However, i have seen you do better, if you wsh for an example of a piece of work that was better, then just look at your Malboror drawing. Good work.
