Soul Mates

There’s something different with you
The love is so real, the love is so deep
I challenge you, tell me you don’t feel it too
I’ve told you before, but I repeat, my heart is yours to keep

Rejections, I’ve had a few
But I don’t know what it is about you
That makes me feel the way I do

You have rejected me
It bleeds, it bleeds
Makes my heart bleed, can’t you see?
Don’t do this to me, please

There’s someone better out there
I can feel it in my heart
One who’ll love me, one who’ll care
Funny, quick-witted and smart

That reminds me of you
Maybe you are my soul mate
Maybe we will say, “I do.”
If God so chooses it, if it’s our fate

Rejections, I’ve had a few
But I don’t know what it is about you
That makes me feel the way I do

Maybe you are, after all, my soul mate
But does that mean I’m yours?

I hadn't written in a really long time. The last poem I wrote was about my dad having cancer. I did that about a year ago. But it was so painful, I didn't want to start up writing again. I kept telling myself there was nothing to write about, but last night, I just started writing this, and I editted it today.

A Perfect World

These cynical thoughts poison my mind
I search for the innocence I long to find

I used to live in blissful naiveté
But now I face utter dismay

I was once but a child in a world of my own
The war, the terror, it was all unknown

But now I’m older, a little more keen
And now the true darkness I have seen

What is happening to the world I once knew?
Good deeds and morals? In this world only a few

There’s poverty, famine, greed and war
I never knew this existed before

A broken heart, a tear-streaked face
All too often it’s commonplace

Perhaps in mankind I have little faith
But it seems to be our destined fate;

To destroy ourselves and leave nothing behind
Self-destruction will be the end of mankind.

A Dream

Will I ever get the chance to say I love you
Because time is running out
Perhaps the feelings are slipping
But I’m not going to doubt

My love for you is strong
And I will tell you soon
That you and I; s’pose to be one
When the time is opportune

Will I ever get the chance
To hold you close to me
To kiss those tender lips and tell you
You and I are meant to be

I feel it in my blood
No better time than now
Hear me, I will confess
Please accept this vow;

That I will love you for my life
No matter what is said and done
I will wait for you, go to you
Just let me be your only one

This one's a little... different than the other ones. I just wrote it real quickly while I was bored on the computer yesterday. Surprisingly, there's no rhyme scheme (I looove rhyme schemes - it seems to make my poems flow a lot nicer). But, here it is anyway:

Don’t Hate Me

Don’t hate me cuz I’m rich
Don’t hate me cuz I’m gorgeous
Don’t hate me cuz I’m funny
Don’t hate me cuz I’m smart
Don’t hate me cuz I’m an actor
Don’t hate me cuz I’m witty
Don’t hate me cuz I know myself
Don’t hate me cuz I’m athletic
Don’t hate me cuz I’ve got it all figured out
Don’t hate me cuz I’m confident
Don’t hate me cuz I’m better than you
Don’t hate me cuz I’m telling you this
Don’t hate me cuz you’re jealous
Hate me for a reason
