YOU HAD BETTER BE FROM BOSTON!
*shakes fist if you're one of those lame New Yorkers that can't choose the Mets or the Yankees*
I mean, christ, you've got two teams you can go for in this state, and you go for the Red Sox? They have HORRIBLE sportsmanship. Manny Ramirez doesn't hustle to the bases, nor to the ball, and he's one lazy, fiery fool. Papelban says that he's BETTER than Mariano Rivera (which is an absolute lie. But at least Mo has more reverence and modesty than that.) And Kevin Youkilis has been ejected several times already! Need I talk about Kurt SHilling/Shelling? GO for a better team!
*pant pant*
I watch too much baseball. :P |

Closest stadium to you, eh? You're excused, my friend. Though why not choose some team like the Toronto Blue Jays? Shame they got rid of the Montreal Expos. |

Don't get me started.
I can't stand the Yankees, and I really don't like the Sox, but give credit where credit's due: Manny Ramirez is one of the greatest sluggers in the history of baseball, whether or not he 'hustles' on every fly ball. On top of that, he's got an incredible love for the game, that almost seems child-like. You've gotta love anyone with love for the game. Kevin Youkilis is a fiery player who plays with a lot of passion, hence the reason he's been ejected several times (which players haven't been ejected once or twice?). He's the heart and soul of the Red Sox, which, at my last check, WON the World Series last year. Jonathon Papelbon was completely out of line for what he said regarding Mariano Rivera, who in my opinion is one of the greatest post-season pitchers (not just closers) of all-time. All-the-same, Papelbon will grow to become one of the best relief pitchers ever, even up there with "Mo". And don't forget the fact that it was Papelbon, and not Rivera, who closed out Game 4 of the 2008 World Series. As for Curt Schilling, his resumè speaks for itself, so I don't have a need to defend him. I may dislike the Sox, and many of their players, but I'll defend greatness where it needs defended.
Whew. |

If you're really wondering why I like the Red Sox, here it is. I like rooting for teams that don't win much. I've liked the Red Sox since I started to like baseball. Back when the Cubs were in the NL Championship Series and the Red Sox Were in the AL Championship Series in '03, I wanted those teams to win. Why? Because if they won, it would be their first WS appearance in 20+ years. So that's why I wanted them to win. But it was a Yankees/Marlins world series. See, I've liked the Cubs all this time, and they suck ass. So I root for teams that don't win because they need support. The Red Sox needed it, and they won the WS. It's not looking good for the Cubs, but they'll pull through.

Problem: The Red Sox are by NO means a team that loses a lot, in fact, the Red Sox racked the All Star game with their hitting talent.
I'll say this: I never said that Papelbon was the worst reliever, he just needs to show some respect. And the fact that he proclaimed that HE should have closed the All-Star game really burst my bubble. I'm a Mo fan, and not a Yankee fan, trust me. I'm a Mets lover, all the way.
But, Mo participated in 6 WS-ring closings, rather successfully. But, I still have my annoyances for the 2000 WS. I'm annoyed the Mets didn't take that over. And Mo didn't have a chance to pitch in the 2008 World Series, so.... But I even admit. Mo totally sucked last year, with that ERA. I hate the rest of that team, though. Girardi's a fiery arse. A-Rod's an egotist. And Damon get on my nerves. So, eye for eye, I suppose. Of course I'll cheer or them if the Mets don't get far.
Anyways, we should definately start a baseball thread in the entertainment section.
Eh, baseball. |
