If you have a question to ask here in the Midgar Library Help Forum, please have a quick look through this post before you ask, as your question may already be answered here.
How Do I Get An Avatar?
That's the little picture just below your username. To obtain one of these lovely pieces of art, go into your profile by clicking on 'myRepublic' at the top of the Forum. Once in there, click 'Edit Options' and scroll to the bottom of the page. You should see a button labelled: 'Change Avatar'. Click it. You can now choose an avatar from our libraries here at FFR. If you wish to upload a custom avatar from your computer, you will need to click on the "Gold Saucer" tab, which is located at the top right of your screen. Once there, you will be able to purchase the "Custom Avatar" feature for your account. This feature costs 500RP. Remember, the maximum dimensions for avatars are 65x65 pixels.
My Signature Isn't working...
Maybe you haven't linked your signature with the correct code. Upload your signature to a webspace provider such as Homestead, Ranchoweb.com or YourSigHost.com, and link it using the following image code:
...without any spaces, obviously. If your signature is displayed incorrectly, IE - A small red cross, then either your image isn't linked correctly, or your space provider isn't working properly. Don't use Geocities to link your images, as they're quite terrible. Homestead and YourSigHost are much more reliable.
Is There A Chatroom Here At FFR?
Yes, there is. However, you must have mirc in order to access it.

People with @ in chat are called "operators". They can set the topic, kick, ban, voice and op as well as set multiple channel modes.
People with % are "half ops". They can kick, set the topic, voice, ban and set some channel modes.
People with + are "voices". The only thing you can do with a voice is talk when the chat room is 'moderated'. When the room is 'moderated' (mode +m), only voices, half ops and operators can talk.
IRCops are people who control the server. They can control any channel on the server.
Global ops are people who control the server bot "Ragnarok". They can control all channels that have a "Ragnarok" in it.
I Want A Custom Title!
In order to obtain a custom title, access the Gold Saucer by clicking on the tab at the top right of your screen. Once you are there, you will be able to purchase the "Title" feature for your account. There is a charge of 200RP for this feature.
Can I Have More Than One Account Here?
If you have more than one account, we'll delete the others. Sorry, but that's policy.
I Want To Change My Username.
Again, access the Gold Saucer by clicking on the tab at the top right of your screen. Once you are there, you will be able to purchase the "Username" feature. This feature costs 1,500RP to buy.
Why Are My Threads Getting Closed?
Well, there are numerous reasons as to why we close threads here at FFR. If the thread has no point whatsoever, and it's totally ridiculous, then we close it. If a thread has been revived for no apparent reason after months and months without so much as a single post in it, we close it. We're not overly strict here at FFR, but we don't like spam cluttering up the boards. Also, take a look at the different forums we have here at FFR before you go and post a topic. We have various different forums that are made for different subjects. For example, all sporting talk belongs in the Blitzball Stadium forum, and all things concerning Final Fantasy VII belong in the Final Fantasy VII-IX forum. If you see a thread that doesn't belong somewhere, please, notify me or another Moderator, and we'll sort out the problem. If you post a thread in the wrong forum, we'll move it using our nifty powers. Another reason why we close threads is if your question has already been answered. Before you post anything in the Midgar Library Help Forum, read the FAQ's we have on offer. If your question is already answered within the FAQ, we will close your unnecessary thread.
Threads In The Midgar Library Forum Are Being Deleted...Why?
Crater Seraph/Anthony has this to say on the subject:
Threads are being cleaned up in the Midgar Library due to the additions of volumes located in the sub-forums of the Midgar Library. If your thread should be answered and closed it shall be deleted after two days of the closing. More updates will be put up soon so keep checking in. Thanks for your cooperation.
Can I Be A Moderator? Please?
We choose our own Moderators here at FFRepublic. The application form is no longer used. Try to be a helpful, thoughtful member, act sensibly around the forums and show that you're a responsible person, and you may be asked to join us on the Staff here at FFR. Don't try too hard - the biggest mistake anyone can make is posting here with the sole purpose of becoming a Moderator. This usually only leads to disappointment.
How Do I Use This Battle System?
The new battle system will be up and running hopefully by late Summer time. The FAQ for this battle system is located here.
If you have any questions that aren't answered in the FAQ, or some suggestions for improving the battle system, visit the Lindblum Kiosk forum and post away.
How Do I Get RP?
The administrators here at FFR have the responsibility of handing out RP. Show initiative, help us out here at the forums, produce a good piece of artwork or start an inventive thread, and you may receive some RP as a reward.
Please don't beg for RP, if you do that, chances are people won't give you any. Contribute to the boards, produce a great piece of artwork for the Graphical Asylum/Fanart forums and help people out, and someone is sure to donate some RP in your favor. Battling with the FFRepublic Battle System will also win you some RP if you are successful.
Another way is helping out other members. It could be answering their questions or making graphics for other members that gets you RP rewards.
Quizzes and competitions held in the forum sometimes contain RP prizes. Try entering, you have more of a chance of winning if you enter than if you don't.
RP is also earned by helping the FFR Staff do a better job here, perhaps by reporting bugs in the Midgar Library or Treno Card Stadium, for instance. Good suggestions for the forum are often rewarded as well.
How Do Mods Get Their RP?
afterlab, Ethereal and Soulstone are all able to distribute RP to the mods on a regular basis so that the mods can reward the members with it!
What Do I Do With My RP?
You can donate it to others, or you can purchase weapons and items from the FFR Item shop. You can access the Item Shop by clicking on the "Item Shop" tab at the top right hand side of your screen. These weapons/items will be used in the battle system here at FFR. They look quite nifty in your Minicard, too. You can also purchase features from the Gold Saucer for your FFR account.
How Do I Get Gil?
Refer people to FFR. Get some of your Friends to join up here, and you'll receive some Gil.
Do the stories in the Fan Fiction section have to be FF related?
No, you can make them about anything you'd like, as long as its not vulgar.
If I find a bug, where do I post it, or who do I notify?
Please post all bugs related to the forums/site in the Midgar Library and all battle system related problems in the Lindblum Kiosk. If at all possible, provide a screen shot of that bug. Try and tell us as many details about the bug that you can aswell.
We will try and get it fixed as soon as possible. Threads concerning the battle system that are posted in the Midgar Library will either be moved, closed or deleted.
Why Can't I Use HTML Code Here?
You can't use it because it's been turned off. With HTML code enabled, there is a huge risk to the safety of the FFR forums. Someone with a bit of HTML knowledge could come in here and cause all kinds of chaos. Never fear though, Afterlab has installed some great VB Code here at FFR. Below is a small list of a few of the VB features you can use to make your posts look more spiffy:

RP = Republic Points:
Republic points, are like money, we use them to buy items, and they can only be obtained by being a good member. (See: Later section of this post, to know more about Obtaining RP.)
Gil:
As of yet, there seems to be no use for this. There may be in the future, but I'm not sure. You can obtain it by referring people to the forums. They just put you as the person that directed them to the forums, and you get one Gil. I have 1 Gil ATM, because I have referred one member. "Eraph".

Why do some people have "MASSIVE RP"?:

How do I get RP?:

Post good graphics in the "Graphics Asylum" and they might donate to you aswell. Below, you can see what each amount of RP generally means. And how much is alot, and how much isn't very much.

Anything past that, and it doesn't matter. I have a-massed a collective 70,000+ RP (Legit) 1,300,000+ (Extra) I think. I've spent or donated most of it.
My Avatar / Status!:
We have a thing here, that'll make people want RP even more, and so they will want to be good members even more. It also makes them stop changing their Republic Card like crazy people.
You have to get a "Good" amout of RP, before you can PAY to have a custom Avatar. (Read chart above)
The custom status works the same. You need to have RP, before you can change it.
Finding The Right Place To Post:
Read the descriptions for every forum, to get familiar with where to go, when posting things.
FF7, 8, and 9 things. Go into "Final Fantasy VII-IX".
If it is directed at other members, or about something that would be off-topic anywhere else. Post it in "Costa Del Sol" ok?
If your not sure, then post it in "Costa Del Sol". That's what Afterlab told me when I was new, and wanted to make The FFR: PCA.
The reason all the forums are named this way, is to be unique, and make it more fun. You'll get used to it, and it's not a big deal. I've always liked it personally, so if you don't like it, then I'm sorry. Because I cannot see your Point of view.

AP is based on how many threads you have created. I am unaware of it's use as of yet, but it probably would have something to do with the battle system.

It's okay to debate, and it's okay to have a different view, and state that view in the public thread. What I meant is, don't ruin the thread with your own personal battle, and spam the threads up. Stateing your views and debating is one thing, but if it's gonna turn into spam and go too far, then resort to PMs to resolve your issue with the other member please.
