Heya! I'm in the midst of a major Final Fantasy craze right now, currently juggling Crisis Core on my PSP with Final Fantasy X on my PS2. There's a healthy dose of God of War thrown in for flavor, but my focus is those two games. It's been too long since I've played a good ol' fashioned RPG.
I'm a fan of the FF series from way back, my first being Final Fantasy VIII. Squall Leonhart remains to this day my favorite FF character, and I have a lion-head chain as a tribute to that, which I wear whenever possible. My favorite FF, however, is Final Fantasy VII, and I have to say that the recent rash of sequels has been good so far, if not necessarily great. Happily, I'm completely in love with Crisis Core and consider it the first addition to the compilation to step out of the original's considerable shadow somewhat. The original is immensely dated, however, both visually and in terms of gameplay. That remake can't come soon enough, but I don't think it's going to happen until after FFXIII at the very earliest. Ggh...
I've played and beaten FF1 on the GBA, FF7, FF8, FF9 (which, oddly enough, I find the easiest game in the series to re-play... probably because it's got an aura of "fun-ness" about it that just sucks me right in!), and FFX. I clocked in a good 60+ hours of FF12, too, but got side-tracked before finishing it and didn't get back to it until I'd forgotten so much of it that I had to start over (GAH!!! ...I wasn't even half-way through the story, though, I spent so much time doing side-stuff...). I've played a fair amount of FFIV, FFV, and FFVI as well, though I didn't beat them--for a retro baby, I seem to have a fairly difficult time getting into that generation of gaming (I'm looking forward to the DS version of FFIV for exactly that reason). I own Final Fantasy Origins, Final Fantasy Chronicles, Final Fantasy Anthology, all three PS1 FFs, FFX, FFX-2 (haven't played much of that, but it seems interesting enough, in a Charlie's Angels sort of way), and the Collector's Edition of FFXII, as well as both Kingdom Hearts games and a used copy of Chain of Memories. I have a battered version of Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring, too, if I ever feel like duking it out as Sephiroth or something, but that doesn't really count for much--it's battered nearly into oblivion.
Other than that I'm a big fan of the God of War, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Jak & Daxter, Resident Evil, and Super Smash Bros. series, in no particular order. |

SOLDIER operative, 1st Class
Current Status: Missing In Action
- Weapon: Raiden - Description: A mechanical katana with a small trigger on the handle that runs an electric current through the blade powerful enough to instantly stun most human opponents. This weapon is capable of instantly switching between lethal and nonlethal styles depending on the needs and desires of its wielder, and has a Triple Materia Growth Rate, but only has one Materia Slot.
- Armor: Dragon Bangle - Description: A bangle intricately hand-designed into the likeness of the dragon, Bahamut, its magical resistance to attack matches many high-class armors and is complimented by a slight addition to the wearer's agility. It has five materia slots with two linked pairs and a Double growth rate. This bangle was a gift from a trusted friend.
- Limit Break: Solar Flare - Description: A blazing flash of blinding magical light is followed by any one of a series of devastating, lightning-quick sword techniques--a style of attack loosely derived from the limit technique known as "Fire Cross."
- Combat Style: Focuses on materia designed to enhance or sustain physical prowess or inhibit the enemy's, using offensive magic only as a situational standby. Prefers an in-your-face quick-slashing method of assault over all else, though is always open to improvisation. He always keeps his Bahamut Fury materia equipped to his bangle, but mostly out of sentimental value--he rarely uses it, even in extreme circumstances.
- Favorite Materia: Any varient of Assault Twister, particularly those accompanied by potent status effects.
- Favorite Summon: Bahamut, in all of his forms.

Indeed, you would be welcome.
And nice to see that FFVIII also brought you to the series. And although I am definitely not as FF crazed as you, I had a point where I had one on every system.
Though, now I know who to ask if I'm ever stuck again. Hope you stick around. It's been a while since we've had such a fan of FF. |
