FFXIII Confirmed for 360

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada had already talked about Last Remnant, Star Ocean, and Infinite Undiscovery before leaving the stage at the E3 Microsoft press conference, but he came back at the last minute to reveal one other surprise; the final announcement was a trailer for the release of Final Fantasy XIII on 360.
i was not expecting this, but i must say it is absolutely awesome.

Ah bugger.
I thought i heard Nomura or someone say that FFXIII was a PS3 exclusive.
I find it rather bothersome, actually. FFXIII was my final reason to buy a PS3 instead of a 360... Now im torn between the two. And we all know i haven't the mony for that

| there is supposedly another price drop for the 360 soon. i would wait a bit and see how that goes. either way it will be cheaper. |

Preposterous.
I guess it's a joy for X-Box 360 owners, considering they don't have to go out and buy a PS3 just for FFXIII, but in reality, it was a fair trade-off for Oblivion going to the PS3. The only real difference is, Square Enix and Sony have a lot more history than Bethesda and Microsoft, which is where the real surprise comes, as far as I'm concerned.  |

It really isn't a surprise. Making exclusives for anything other than the Wii or one of the handhelds these days is a big risk to take unless you're 2nd party. Development costs are just too high.
Versus XIII is apparently still exclusive, but I wouldn't count on that lasting either.

This happens in part because one of the goals Microsoft set for the 360 was for it to become cheaper to produce every year - which they can translate to a price drop. Which they managed recently IIRC, so it's almost definitely going to happen. Reports were of a drop of about $50USD. But I'd wait that out a bit - not for a bigger drop, but to see if the failure rates improve or worsen with the hardware changes. |
