| Shaders are specific units in a graphics card (or the PS3 in this case) who provide special calculations for specific elements in graphics. A more well-known term would be cell shaders, and these shaders are often seen in effects like reflections (in water etc), or cartoony-looking games. FFXIII looks like it's using those cartoony-like shaders, although not as over the top as other games like the Wind Waker / Walker (dunno which one, that older GC Zelda game). |
