Final Fantasy Republic
Notable Members
Version VI
Created 05.16.08
Introduction
Welcome to the world of Final Fantasy Republic, welcome to our world. Nearly seven years ago, a young man by the name of Eric (afterlab) created these forums where social inequality was left in the seat of your computer chair, where people from all over the world, from every race and religion, came together in the unity of video games and similiar interests. Many of us have become friends. Some of us have become more than friends. Through it all, some 11,000+ member's contribution later, we are where we are today: a growing community, on the comeback of a trail of destruction. I, personally, want to thank you for what you've given us all. Hopefully seven years from now this list will be twice as long with many more members along the way. We honor you.

The Ancients

Veterans and Key Figures
COMING SOON!
End NotesThank you for taking the time to stop by with your opinions and to read up on FFR's most prolific members. If you feel you have a strong case for a member (former or active) and they should be presented upon this list, please feel free to state your case and provide your reasons. I will be updating this page as frequently as members are suggested and accepted (by you), so check back in often on our fabled list, perhaps one day you'll be granted FFR immortality! |

The purpose of this thread, currently, is for veterans, staff, and current members to discuss names that should be included in this list.
Current members are free to offer suggestions, but long term members will have a stronger say in what names are suitable, for obvious reasons. |

- THE VAULT WILL BE OPENED SOON -
I'm currently looking for gamers with an interest in the gaming culture and industry outside of Final Fantasy to help with a new, upcoming video game news site. If you think you're interested, please throw a PM my way.

| Aye, that's the reason I've put no names up there. I saw it to be pointless to make a "planning and discussing" thread, just to turn around and make the actual thread, so I figured we could accomplish all that here. But, you're the boss. |

I don't want to rain on the parade or anything (being a noob and all) but potentially events like this on a forum where the majority of the current posters all signed up within the last year or so are just alienating to them and potentially elitist.
Just thought that I should point that out. |

| Some of the best members still on FFR are those same people who've signed up over the past year or so. And if you haven't noticed, I'd say it's about a 50/50 split between veterans and noobs. Then on top of that, there are dozens of other vets who've been on here in the past year that the oldies and noobies both know who are no longer with us. This is in no way an attempt to alienate or make an elitist out of anyone, this is only meant for a reward to the people who've been on these forums for several years - everyone wants recognition for their input. Basically, we're just compiling the history of FFR with this. |

Just to reply to some stuff from the old thread

I completely agree with every name on that list. But after all of the RPing and in-depth discussions in the Gardens, you can't even mention me, my brother?
|
Of course you should be included, dude. Just didnt mention you cos you already posted n that.

Quoth Michael:
11 veterans is a little overkill, and I wouldn't put names such as Abel's name on that list if my life depended on it personally (I consider his attitude towards members a major cause for the death of activity here about half a year ago), but if some of you want to start up a discussion thread and throw some names and ideas around, feel free.

Not everyone on the current list of notable members is necassarily a positive notable member. The notable members list was first made just to be sort of a list of members that offered a lot to FFR or were keyfigures throughout the sites history.

To be honest this is a very good point. Elitism has always been a big problem here. At the same time tho it'd be a shame for the hisotry of the site to just be forgotten. So its up to you what you wanna do. |

| I would like to see a few names up there, but others i would know would let it get to their heads. I would not like to mention any names, but if I could put anyones name up, it would be very select few. Let it roll. |

I agree entirely, and that list could have been shortened substantially, though I strongly believe someone shouldn't be treated as a "key figure" if their contributions were overshadowed by constant and considerably negativity; The Man, Lennon Legend, Abel, and Sar because the most obvious examples. Whatever about posts counts, they were substantially responsible for the development of elitist cliques that invariably did more damage than good, defeating the whole point of their "contributions" in the first place.

As with Turks, I completely agree with you Laylia, but I thin you're misinterpreting this. The Notable Members thing has always been used as a way to highlight those people who helped build this place from the ground up; the original list was way too long, so we're gonna go with a substantially condensed list this time around.
Now, lets leave the debating of the validity of this to a minimum, and lets start throwing out some names.
To begin with, I believe the following names should be included without question:
- The current staff
- afterlab
- aerosol (Jay)
- Dromar Darkwind
- ECCENTRICHOCOBO
- Edman
- Khaeos Drao-kin
- Kionae
- Mederu
- Naraku
- Quistis
- Rainecloud
Names I feel should be removed due to lack of long term impact on the community.
- Angelus-Mortis (a friend, but wasn't here long and didn't do much)
- The Doctor (was here a few weeks, left in a mood swing)
- Undertakeress (was around a few weeks and disappeared)
- YopY (was around longer, but left for unknown reason. Minimal involvement)
- Yume Hime (extremely dramatic and bossy, little actual contribution)
People whose negativity and elitist drama exempt them from the list; not up for debate as far as I'm concerned.
- Brian
- Dooze
- Kosai
- The Man
- Winter Nights
In the case of any names I haven't listed, I simply don't know the level or degree of their involvement with the community, so I'll leave those suggestions up to the longer standing veterans. |
