~ BEHAVIOURAL CONDUCT ~
- INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOURKeep it civil, or don't post it. Any posts that are deliberately antagonising, offensive, attack a person's character directly, make accusations against their morals or beliefs, or possess slander or bigotry, are not accepted. Regular, repeat offenses will get you warned.
We value freedom of speech and expression above anything else. However, we also expect that freedom to be used responsibly. Abusive, insulting or antagonising posts will be deleted without comment.
Excessive drama whoring and threads made for the sole purpose of baiting and flaming will be deleted on sight. We're not here to fuel your ego.
Don't spam excessively. We're not going to put you under lock and key purely for making a silly or slightly off topic remark in a thread, but that doesn't give you the freedom to derail a thread under a truckload of spammy posts.
If the subject of a thread is deemed to be too spammy in nature for genuine discussion, it will be moved to the spam forum. Likewise, threads that merit decent dicussion will be moved out of the spam forum if they are posted there.
Rape jokes. Scat. Pornography. Take them somewhere else.
Dishonesty towards members (and especially towards staff) is a bannable offense. If you can't be honest with the community, you will not be accepted here.
Advertising your own sites is only allowed when it's in some way relevant to the thread in which you're posting the link(s). Otherwise, it's against the rules.
General forum rules also apply to the shoutbox.
- HARASSMENT OF MEMBERS
The harassment of other members on FFR in any form will not be tolerated. Specifically, this refers to public flaming, repeated baiting, and harassment via PMs. None of the staff are fools, so don't expect us to waste our time arguing with you when you try to "defend" your reasons for being abusive towards another member.
If you feel that a member on the boards is baiting, trolling, or flaming you, and a staff member hasn’t sorted out the problem yet, please notify me personally through PM, and provide us with a link to the offending post or a copy of the offensive PM. Do not provoke the member into an argument on the forums, as this will result in a light warning for you also - be mature about the situation.
- WARNINGS, SUSPENSIONS, AND BANNINGS
Exceptions to the rules below are only given if rule-breaking occurs over an extremely large span of time (a year or more). Why? Because it would be stupid to punish members simply for getting a bit hot-headed once in a while. Only consistent bad behaviour will be reprimanded.
Continual drama will earn you one warning from the staff.
Ignoring this warning, back-answering the staff, or repeating offences consistently will get you suspended for a week.
Continue after this, and you'll be banned.
If we consider you a real and genuine threat to our members (paedophile, rapist, stalker, etc.) we will ban you on sight, delete your account, and direct your IP address details to the relevant authorities if we feel it is necessary. Any members who have a problem with another forum member's warning / suspension / banning are to take the issue up in a polite manner with a staff member through PMs or IMs. Threads disputing these issues that are posted directly on the boards will be physically deleted
- TROLLING / FLAMING
At an administrator or moderator's discretion, if it’s clear from the beginning that a member has joined FFR purely for the intent of trolling or flaming on the boards (I.E. many deliberately offensive posts within a very short span of time) will be instantly suspended (with reason given) for two weeks.
If they continue to flame and troll after their suspension period is up, they will be banned for two months, similar to the rules above. A third such incident, as you can probably guess, will result in a non-reversible permanent ban.
- NO BACKSEAT MODERATING
There is nothing wrong with members helping another member out, but under no circumstances should be a member excessively "backseat" moderate on the forums. If you are going to point out to a member that they have done something wrong, please do so in a friendly manner, but do not do so on a constant basis. Such behaviour simply frustrates the forum staff, and are likely to exempt you from being considered for forum staff at a later point, regardless of how prominent a member you are.
The best way to be helpful on the forums is by posting in the this forum, by bringing forward beneficial suggestions and ideas, and helping out other members with their problems and questions in there.
- OTHER FORUMS
If you have a problem with another forum, FFR isn't the place to bring it up. Just as *****ing about other members will not be acceptable, neither will the bashing of other forums or people who are not a part of this community. Just because they are not a member of FFR does not give you the right to attack them.
- DUPLICATE ACCOUNTS
Duplicate accounts are a relative situation, and will be treated on a case by case situation..
- USING PROXY SERVERS
As proxy servers are almost exclusively used to bypass IP checks, using a proxy to register on the forums or consistently post is an instantly bannable offence.
- TAKE A JOKE
As a forum community, many of the members on here are friends, and as such, inside jokes and humorous remarks in some posts may come up that could be taken in an offensive manner if taken in a literal context. Please understand that this is not intended to offend other members. "Insulting" jokes are only acceptable if both parties are "in" on the joke. This does not give members the freedom to haphazardly insult other members under the guise that it was "just a joke". Such duplicity is easily noticeable, and will be with treated as a serious offence.
If a member feels like they're being insulted directly by another forum member or staff member, please PM one of the admins - Michael or Crater Seraph - with a link to the offending post(s), or use the Report function on the posts, and we sort it out as promptly as possible.
- STAFF CONDUCT
The staff of FFR won’t receive any special privileges when it comes to the upholding of the rules on the forums. They’re expected to treat all members with the same level of respect as they would expect to be given themselves. Any staff member who throws their weight around or acts above their authority on a continual basis will lose their position on staff.
What staff can and cannot do:
If a forum member tries to bait, flame or troll another staff member in a thread or PM, the staff member can defend (civilly) his or her position on the subject. They're allowed to make one post in which to defend themselves. Continuation of an argument by either party will result in warnings being handed out, and the thread closed.
A forum moderator / admin can tell you to desist your line of conversation in a thread if they think it's clearly descending into trouble, if there is a long string of line long back and forth spam between two members, or if the post is completely off topic. If the member doesn't comply, they will receive a warning.
This goes without saying, but a staff member cannot bait, troll or flame another member, either publicly or through PM, or act outside of their position on the boards. Regular occurrences of this by any staff member will be treated very seriously.
A staff member's decision is final, for the most part. If you have a problem with a staff member's actions though, it should be discussed privately with them, through whatever communication means you find most convenient, as long as it's kept civil. Harassing, baiting, or flaming a staff member holds the same penalty as it does for harassing members.
If a staff member baits, flames or generally harasses you, please discuss the issue with the administrators - Michael or Crater Seraph - through PM.
~ GENERAL FORUM RULES ~
- POST IN THE RIGHT FORUMS
Each sub-forum on FFR has a clear purpose, explained in the text under their names on the front forum page. Be sure to read these before posting any threads in those sections, as well as the unique rules in any sub-forum that possesses them. Admins and Moderator do of course have the capacity to move threads, but try and use some common sense when posting. It'll make all our lives easier in the long run.
- REVIVING OLD THREAD
When using the "Search" function to search for a thread about a specific topic, reviving an old thread (basically, posting a thread no longer on the front page of the sub-forum) is acceptable, but certain rules still apply.
Don't revive a thread if the same subject as that of the thread you're reviving already exists on the first page of the sub-forum in which you're reviving it.
Don't revive a thread unless you're going to make a post that adds something new and relevant to the discussion at hand. Don't waste time bringing up an already dead thread just to say "I agree", "that's cool", or something as similarly pointless. ---------------------
