This thread has been merged with its counter arguement. This thread is no longer just a petition, it is here so that you can discuss and vote on what you think should be done.
This database has been milked for far too long. It's been what? Three years? FFRepublic is starting a new era now with a relatively new webmaster. There's far too much BS in FFRepublic's past. I feel that FFRepublic needs a clean slate where all will be viewed as equals and there will be no visible signs of the drama in our past.
Here are the current arguements:
Arguement 1
Quote:
Requiem of Mana: I think erasing FFR history is a stupid idea.
the time is past: And why? So we can not read all the old BS that no one reads?
Requiem of Mana: I do.
|
Response
Quote:
He can set up a second board that will be intact with what we have now, but no one will be able to post.
the time is past: It'll be like an archive.
|
Arguement 2
Quote:
Requiem of Mana: and now, an unnessecary wipe
Requiem of Mana: just so you can all get omfg uber low ids
|
Response
Quote:
the time is past: Uh...
the time is past: WTF?
the time is past: I have 269. That's already low.
Requiem of Mana: But you want omfg 2 xP
the time is past: Uh, no.
the time is past: I don't give a **** about that.
the time is past: If you want me to, if you don't believe me, I won't join for a month.
|
I'll post more arguements as they come to my attention.
The counter arguements
This states: "Converting old threads to archived threads that cannot be posted in will serve no purpose; It will not speed up the forums, it will not get rid of grudges, and it will not magically erase old conversations from people's memories. Thus, this action should not be taken."
Anyone who has already signed the petition, please vote on the poll. |

I'll agree to this. Not only will it get rid of 5900 inactive accounts, but it will also speed the board up ALOT. I would love a new start myself, I can't say I can see any things wrong with it. The old threads will still be able to be viewed if wished, it gives the forum a new start and gets rid of nearly six thousand inactive accounts.

| If people who don't agree don't post, then this is a pretty one-sided petition. |

whats the point of getting raid of all the old "BS" if your going to make a new forum for it?
from what i understand, your saying we could just forget about everything thats ever happend here and start over. or something... deleting old thread isnt doing to get raid of any old grudeds a member might have had against another, and its helpful to use your old posts in debates when you don't feel like writing the same thing out again.
I dont see a problem with anything, so i dont think we need a solution. the only thing that sucks are all the unused accounts. but i thought that zranx could erase them anyways.
to be truthful, i think its fine the way it is, or atleast good enough so that deleting everything wouldnt fix a thing.
and like naraku said, its kinda stupid to tell people who disagree to not post...
i think its a bad idea. |

People keep dragging old bull**** through the mud, and resetting the database will get rid of most of the old bull****.
I say go for it. Don't necessarily prune all the users or anything, but move everything to an archive where no one can post and have a fresh new start. |
