I don't see the point of those smilies really. I mean, they stretch the lines that are typed up and are inserted into the most random places.
Example:

There's no real need for them. I'd personally prefer it if Eric spent his time on ironing out errors and things than developing smilies though that of course, is up to him.
Also... most of them are either ugly or scary. ^^;;
