personally ive never been offended about polish jokes or ne other jokes about my race or heritage. i find them hilarious. if others are offended by those jokes i will refrain from say them in front of them.
as for just going up to someone and say, " hey chinese kid" or ne thing like that, thats just ridiculous.
though stereotypes can be wrong, they often do hav a basis in a facts of a general "race" of ppl. for example, i dont kno a single blond that is especially intelligent and just plain not ditzy. im not saying that there are no intelligent blonds, merely that generally they arent all that smart. as for the way the way other groups and cultures act, this too is a stereotype with a basis in fact. but i do believe when u meet a person, u should try not to even think about stereotypes and just look at them for who they are.

I haven't been posting much in here these last days, I've been so busy and I felt that I needed to have something really worthwhile to say before I post in this particular thread.
As for racism, I think you all pretty much cut to the point and I share your views on most parts. Humans are humans and everybody should be treated for the individuals they are. No need to repeat what you've already stated so clearly. 
As for rankings... *frown* I don't really see what need there is for something like that..? How would it work out? And what would be the point..? As long as everybody in here is ready to share their views in a well mannered fashion and take joy in debate and discussion, isn't that all we need? Hierarkies utterly scare me.. *shrug*
And Kev, about you logo. I'm sorry, it's a really excellent logo, I just sort of got out of the habbit of keeping all these tags in my sig.  If you want me to add it, I'll do so.

Well, rankings are not going to place the members in higher or lower groups. They are just to better organize our club. So, there won't be levels or working your way up. Just basic classes. Well, nobody PMed me with a topic, so I guess it will be my turn for this week.
The Topic is: Whether or Not Smoking Should Have an Additional Tax

o i think there should definitely be a tax on cigarettes. theyre nothin but toxins in convinient little stick form used to make billions for heartless corporations. so tax away, more money for the government and it makes it less likely that ppl will start smoking.
hey what will the classes be based on?

The classes are still in the process of being formed. We will most likely ask all of the members which class they would like to be put in.
Anyways, onto the cigarette taxes. My primary position on this issue was positive. I was all for taxing cigarette smokers. And then I realized this. The choice to smoke is legal and a moral decision. The government has no place to step in and draw the lines of moral issues such as this. Why should a group of people addicted to a substance be forced to pay sums of money to the government for their personal preference? I see it as one more way that the government is looking for new ways of making income. Would it be justifiable to tax skydivers? They put themselves at risk by performing a dangerous action, do they not? The government needs to maintain their state of "laissez-faire" on this issue. They have no right to parent the citizens of America by taxing the so-called "evil" corporations that create tobacco. It is an industry that has no reason to be battered down in this way. I agree that smoking is wrong, but as long as it is legal, I see no reason to tax it out of a "moral obligation." What do you guys think?

but why is it legal? im not quite sure, perhaps because so many ppl are addicted to it that it would be too difficult to get them to all stop and probly becuz a good portion of politcians responsible for making the laws are also addicted.
there is a difference between skydivers and smokers. skydivers take the risks they do because the enjoy it. smokers on the other hand risk lowering their longevity because their brain tells them they need nicotine. i do see ur point, however. its not right that someone should hav to lose money because they made a bad choice and became addicted to tabacco.

Taxing cigarette smokers is one of the dumbest things I've ever hear. I am a smoker, and at this point, not by choice. It's ****ing rediculace that we(smoker) have to dish out more money, when we are doing it to ourselves, You don't have to tell me smoking is bad, I know already.
Cigarette prices in New York are up to $5 a pack, which is obsurd that means a smoker that smokes about a pack a day has to spend about $150 a month on cigarettes. on min. wage. it more than 10% of our monthly income, which is taxed 30% so you want to add more taxes to that. I think that the government is a money grubbing industry, who will screw anyone for money and ultimitely power.
Events like this really makes me wonder "Is the US a free country"

Well, the government has already decided that smoking can't be too bad or they would make it illegal. But they have decided it is ok. It is a person's choice. And...they should have left it at that. But all the pressure from the press and the general population has buckled them somewhat. They have succumbed to the idea that smoking is bad and therefore they must step in and attempt to stop it. But they are going about it the wrong way. They are doing a halfway job and trying to suck money out of smokers for their own programs. They either need to make it illegal or leave it alone.
Ahhh...I had another good point but it slipped my mind. Will post it later.

like i said before it would be nearly impossible to make smoking illegal and get ppl to follow it within a decade or two. the ironic thing is that marijuanas health effects arent as serious as cigarettes but pot is illegal and cigarettes arent. so whether or not somthing is illegal is not a good measure of how bad it is.

I cant remember where it was what i watched or what not, but new studies i guess say that marijuana is 20x more tabacco or something then a ciggerate, anyways cigerates don't f' u up like marijuana and narcotics leading to other things...

EDIT:yeah Marijuana has 20 the Tar as cigarette's but If you say that marijuana leads to other things, so does cigarette's for most kids...

Not to get off the off topic but what I meant by other things isnt just that weed is a gateway drug but also, it gets you high, unlike cigerates that buzz you, weed gets you high and dulls your senses, not a good thing to have a bunch of high people walking around, if they were legal then youd smoke weed on ur coffee break like you do a cig now and you'd be doing your potentially crucial job high, hmm, not good eh?
