| Nice new avatar stew, i am tackling a new riff, by the way the arpeggio i got was a 3 string sweep, i find them easier than 2 string. I am currently on the rising force and trilogy suite arpeggio riffs, both are two strings, and i am hoping for some expert insight and help... |

hey Ya'll since it is the christmas season I've got a few names you might want to try out..
Merry Axemas :christmas songs played by or composed by guitarists.. I especially like "Christmas time is here" by Steve Vai
Trans-Siberian Orchestra: This is band pretty inovative with a whole album dedicated to christmas songs. Guitars, drums, classical style.. pretty cool
Yeah I was just in the mood to listen to some christmas songs and I got Download happy again.. |

Actually Metallica helped them out.. but anyways, it was cool cause they had a whole album dedicated to christmas..
anyways on your two string sweep, if I remember it clearly, it's a down sweep follows by on up pick and then back down again, on the rising force solo.. yeah I worked on that for weeks before I got the timing down on it. that riff is a ***** cause right after the sweep you go into another really difficult riff where you slide back and forth in two octives on that arpeggio.. This song really kicked my ass, but it also helped my technique..
Anyways the sweepreally is a circle picking as I talked about earlier cause the stroke down is different than the stroke up.. I first tried to do it with an up stoke on the E string, pull off, then a up on the B string, then a down stroke on the E string.. but it was all wrong cause when you speed that up to about 130 with a metronome, the pause for the pull off just threw me off big time. So what I suggest for the riff is this:
Up on E string..,
Pull off the E,
Down on B string,
and use the sweep to go down on the E string, then another up to start it off again..
This takes time to get it to optimal speed, but it is definitely worth it for it opened up a whole new set up riffs for me.. have fun,,
And the sliding up and down the neck.. Well this takes a lot of accuracy, and that comes with time, so if it doesn't seem to work out, just shift to the lower octave two strings above it.. but practice the slide for there is a lot of it going on in classical riffs.
I deleted and reposted this so that this club would not stay on the bottom of the pile, but what's everyone up to..
I'm currently analizing epic metal, you know like rapsody, and camelot,, I don't know I like the semi-goth/ classical feel to the epic and germen metal that's been around.. Any suggestions? |
