The use of negative space is quite nice in this peice. I like a lot of the actual peice but there are a few things that throw me off. The font is not really complimenting the peice... and the white seems to burn the overlaying layer above it. Then in the avatar seems dominant because it's in such a small space. However it does make a good focal point on both peices.
I like the color combinations and shading that is used, although the bright spot in the lower left hand corner is a bit too bright. Perhaps if you toned that part down a bit to match the other brightness areas in the banner, then it would go more together.

I think everything's fantastic but the text. I don't know, the text is just... ugly. However, the lighting and work on the background is fantastic. Keep it up.
