Very nicely done for a first try.....there are a few things you should still fix before using it...
First...resize it a bit...it's quite large as you said.
Second...add a border, most likely a dark one. If you don't know how to do it, I'll tell you ^_~
Third...the right pic.....though you blended it in, the edges of the pic still show....erase them.
Fourth....that font is horrible >.<'' go and download some nice fonts. in the Graphical Cafe is a thread called "Mega Resource List" (or something along those lines), it has some links to font sites at the bottom ^_~
Now don't let yourself get down by any critics about the sig...it is really well done for your first try. Practice more and you'll get even better!
