My favorite town would have to be Wutai simply because it stood up to Shinra, even though they lost.

Wutai cos it's in that oh-so-awesome Japanese style.

For the rest, I do like Nibelheim and Corel a lot. They both have a very troubled past and are sweet little towns, now.

As for other games, well, Balamb and Balamb Garden ( 'city' ) were great, they had a lot of atmosphere. Especially Balamb Garden, that was definitely a place I would LOVE to visit in real life if it'd exist, the atmosphere there was awesome. Too bad the rest of FF8's locations sucked, imo. Well, mostly, anyway.

Hmm, not really. The city doesn't change into a gun, the only thing the city does (Junon) is putting up blast shields against attacks. The gun is there, and doesn't change into anything, it's just THERE and fires when necessary.

so what if it moves to midger. it TRANSFORMS from a citry into a forftress. it was built to last. if midger was attacked it would be taken out. Junon survived a weapon attack right? but diamond weapon almost destroyed midger but it was stoped.

St. Bevelle is now my favorite, mostly because it's the capital of Spira and all of the goverment actions take place there. I also liked Esthar, just because it was 'technical'. Midgar really depresses me, the only really thing I liked about it was the Shinra Headquarters, and the firing of the Junon Cannon.
