first off...this is my 1st post, so hello to everyone. i am pretty much a FF noob. I played VII when it first came out and crisis core just recently. i put a few hours into X but never finished it. thats about it.
so...I decided that I want to play every Final Fantasy game. I need some help deciding which versions I should play and if there are any that I should just skip b/c they arent that good. Where can I find good guide/walkthroughs for each game (dont plan on using them, but ya never know). Also, if anyone knows the lengths of each game, that would be awesome.
Here is my list so far:
I - PSP. Im already 5hrs in. I just got to Melmond. I think maybe Im about 1/3 done?
II - PSP
III - DS remake - I need to purchase a DS for this or should I play the GBA version?
IV - DS remake or GBA version?
V - GBA to be played on the DS
VI - GBA to be played on the DS
Crisis Core - Already played
VII - Already played
VIII - PS1 on the PS3.
IX - PS1 on PS3
X - PS2 - Still have my original copy and plan to just restart it - on PS3
XI - skipping this one, not into MMOs
XII - PS2 on PS3
XIII - PS3 |

Wow, you have a long way to go... And even more if you spent as much time on each FF game as me. :-P
I can't help you with the games/systems, but for guides to games I always check Gamefaqs.com, there are a lot of good guides on the website, and sometimes even spoiler free (a lot more fun if you play a game for the first time).
edit: changed the url to change the long auto-generated hyperlink (I didn't know this forum automatically changes links ) |

| Almost all of the pre-3D Final Fantasy's are available on the PSP, I'm guessing you already have one since you played Crisis Core. |

It was a goof, sorry.
By the way, if you want to, you can get Final Fantasy Anthology for the PS1, it contains V and VI. Also Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger come in Final Fantasy Chronicles. |

| I would advise you to play the one's that you like. Because if you play a game just to beat it, you'll end up giving up halfway through. That's what happened to me w/ FF8 and FF2. |

i beat FF1 over the weekend. It took me 15hrs and 1 minute I believe.
Overal I liked the game. The lack of direction made it tough to figure out what to do. I didnt feel like spending hours visiting every town again to figure out the next step so i just guided it. the random battles were a little much. it seemed like every 3-5 seconds in a dungeon and 5-7seconds on the world map i was getting into a fight. i finished at level 47/48 and i had excalibur and the masamune. |

| Ones I recommend are X,VIII, and III. Also IX and VI are also good ones. |
