The blog GoNintendo somehow came across an image that reveals Capcom is in the middle of working on Mega Man 9 for an unnamed console.
The image seems to hint that this will be a return to the classic gameplay the series did so well in the past, so some people suspect it will be a Wii or DS title. However, as they point out, Destructoid had posted a rumor about the same game coming to Xbox Live or the Playstation Network. All speculation at this point, so curb your blaster for now.
Get your network ready for download because everyone's favorite Blue Bomber is loading up with Megaman 9. This latest installment from Capcom's beloved series will be the first game to simultaneously hit the Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and WiiWare... at least, if you believe some scans purported to have leaked from Nintendo Power magazine.
Developed by Inti Creates, who also worked on Megaman ZX and Megaman Zero games, Megaman 9 will be rocking the classic 2D gameplay complete with old-school graphics. Imagine that great feeling you've experienced when you first played Quick Man's stage in Megaman 2 happening all over again...
Megaman 9 is currently under Capcom's E3 showcase and of course, G4 will have all the details for you in our in-depth, almighty E3 2008 coverage coming up. So for now, think of all the new colorful boss names you'll encounter: Aborigine Man, Silk Man, Man Man...
Heres some more on it:
ow that Nintendo's WiiWare has leveled the playing field across the board for downloadable content, it was only a matter of time before a game would be slated to hit all three console platforms simultaneously. Capcom will be the first to take the plunge, as the company has announced that Megaman 9 will be hitting the PlayStation Network, the Xbox Live Arcade, and Wiiware.
Megaman 9 is currently on the company's E3 roster, listed as a PSN and XBLA release. However, leaked scans from the latest edition of Nintendo Power reveal that the title is also going to be heading to WiiWare. Megaman 9 returns the series to its 2D roots, opting for classic sprites and old-school gameplay rather than glitz and glamor. Imagine that: a brand new "retro" release. But, for Blue Bomber fans, this may be just what the doctor ordered.
According to the text of the article, the game is being developed by Inti Creates, a group of long lost Capcom employees who worked on the Megaman Zero and Megaman ZX franchises. Expect further coverage of the title to follow, as well as impressions from E3 later in July.

What....I hope that doesn't mean NES old-school. I loved the Megaman X like graphics. I still have the original SNES Megaman X, and still think it's amazing. lol
Making his second stop to gaming networks, the blue bomber lands on the Playstation Network today with his latest adventures in Mega Man 9. This title arrived earlier this week for Nintendo's WiiWare and it's set to make its final stop this October 1st on the Xbox Live Arcade. Mega Man 9 is available for $9.99 at the Playstation Store.
