Its getting good reviews- 10/10 from OXM:
the US OXM has given Fallout 3 a 10/10 review score, saying the game essentially delivers on every count.
There’s an image of the final page of the review through there, which concludes:
“Between its engrossing story, ginormous world, well-crafted RPG side and white-knuckle FPS combat, Fallout 3 completely, utterly gives you your $60 worth.”

Why you cant kill kids in the game:
Emil Pagliarulo, Fallout 3's lead designer, has been explaining the developer's decision not to allow players to kill kids in the latest title in the series.
"This is a series that in previous instalments allowed players to kill children, right? When Bethesda first started developing Fallout 3, we had early conversations about whether you're going to be able to blow the kids' heads off," he told Edge-Online.
"But then we began to think, really what benefit would there be in killing the kids in the game? It just seems gratuitous, unnecessary and cruel.
"The reverse of that is some of the great stories that have been told that involve kids. Look at George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire books. Kids play an important part in that series, and violence to those kids is an important part of those stories."

The neverending debate over which console makes prettier pictures continues with Bethesda’s epic Fallout 3. We’ve played a bit of each, scrutinized the footage, and now present you with our findings. For everyone who loves a good fanboy flame war, we’re sorry to say that neither console looks consistently better than the other. It truly comes down to which particular rock or building you happen to be looking at when you make your decision. Some textures look better on PS3, while others look broken. Some colors look more vibrant on 360, but some look more washed out. Draw-in occurs on both platforms, in similar places. We noticed a bit more texture pop in the PS3, but structures seemed to fade in a bit smoother

recently disbarred Jack Thompson has a lot of time on his hands, so hes shared his 'opinion' about fallout 3, gta among other things:
If you thought being permanently disbarred would cause Jack Thompson to ride off into the sunset, guess again.
The ex-attorney is currently seeing fire and damnation in Bethesda's recent recall of Fallout 3 trailer videos. A rambling letter from Thompson to the Federal Trade Commission accuses the ESRB of duplicity in the enforcement of its advertising guidelines:
The ESRB’s [advertising] Principles and Guidelines are not intended to protect the public. They are obviously intended to protect the video game industry from the public backlash prior to a hyperviolent game’s commercial release. The ESRB, by allowing such violence in games but not in the advertising is institutionally mandating the cloaking of a game’s real content from the public in advertising.
Thus, the ESRB is actively using its “watchdog” muscle to intimidate game developers into participating in the ESRB’s long-standing shell game by which it has tried to hoodwink Congress and the American people into thinking that the video game rating system is working, that the ratings are reliable, and that minors are being protected from the sale of “Mature” games...
And, even though Take-Two has zilch to do with Fallout 3, Thompson cannot resist taking a shot at the GTA publisher:
Take-Two, for example, knows that if it adhered to “truth in advertising,” most of its Grand Theft Auto games never would have made it out of the warehouse. Take-Two has figured out how to collaborate with the ESRB in this shell game by which false advertising cloaks the real nature of their games until the games are released, and then it is too late...
Bethesda’s only sin was that it advertised truthfully what its game Fallout 3 is all about. The ESRB’s idiotic but telling response has fashioned a noose that I expect either the FTC or Congress to slip around the ESRB’s neck...

Interesting article looking at fallout 3- be prepared to be overwhelmed when starting the game!
I just embarked on the journey of Fallout 3 and I have to say that the game is so large and so open ended that I find myself lost at times. Fallout 3 makes no attempt to hold your hand and instead throws you into an apocalyptic nuclear fallout equipped with a BB gun and a dream. The opening starts you as a child in the Vault where your civilization has hidden from the nuclear fallout, but quickly some events will transpire and you will be set loose into the world to fend for yourself. There are choices that need to be made very early on that will help shape your style of play and your moral character.

Looks like its done well...:
Bethesda's keen to let us all know that Fallout 3's made a highly successful debut, which to be fair it has.
The company shipped around 4.7 million copies of the PS3, 360 and PC game to stores worldwide last week, representing retail sales of more than $300 million. How much of that shipment has actually been sold, the firm stopped short of saying. But you can bet it's a lot.

Details on the Downloadable content...
First off, the official editor for Fallout 3, called G.E.C.K. (Garde of Eden Creation Kit) will be available for download in December for PC users absolutely free. It's just sad to see that G.E.C.K. will not be available on a console.
Other than that, three downloadable content packs will arrive for Xbox 360 and the PC starting in January that adds on new quests, items, and content to Fallout 3. Descriptions can be seen below.
Operation: Anchorage. Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe – the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January.
The Pitt. Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Choose your side. Scheduled for release in February.
Broken Steel. Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March.

Fallout 3 editor available for download:
Good news, Fallout 3 fans: G.E.C.K. is now available for download.
The Fallout 3 editor, first announced a couple of weeks ago, will allow PC owners of Fallout 3 to “expand the game any way they wish. Users can create, modify, and edit any data for use with Fallout 3, from building landscapes, towns, and locations to writing dialogue, creating characters, weapons, creatures, and more.”
“We’ve always seen the original world of Fallout 3 as a foundation for even more content. Some created by us, and a lot more created by users,” said Todd Howard, game director for Fallout 3, in a late November press release. “It’s fun to create your own character, but it can be equally fun to create your own adventures. We can’t wait to see what the community does with the G.E.C.K.”

PS3 trophies released:
For those PlayStation 3 gamers feeling a bit trophyless with their copy of Fallout 3, feel trophyless no more! Bethesda Softworks have released a 24MB patch titled the v1.10 patch for the PlayStation 3 version of Fallout 3 adding trophies to the game. You better hope you're not to far into the game; they're not retroactive.

level cap will be raised to 30 with the dlc that will be released:
Bethesda Softworks' lead producer for downloadable content, Jeff Gardiner, told Eurogamer that they plan on raising the level cap from 20 to 30 for Fallout 3 when the third installment of downloadable content, Broken Steel, comes around.
"Along with removing the game's 'ending' with Broken Steel, we figure raising the level cap would allow them to [enjoy the game for longer]. We plan on raising it to level 30 - but it will be a long, hard climb to get there!" Jeff Gardiner told Eurogamer.
Broken Steel is due in March 2009.

Bethesda says NO to PS3 DLC which will allow post end play, despite doing it for PC and Xbox 360....
Now, we have Bethesda not planning to make post-ending play possible for Fallout 3 (also on Xbox 360, PC) on the PS3. What's up, guys?
As it stands, PS3 players only have until the ending of the game to do all their explorations. If you have any unfinished side quests that you would like to revisit to finish, the only way you can do that would be to boot an old save. Thing is, Bethesda Softworks is sending out a new DLC for both the Xbox 360 and PC platforms that will allow them to play on even after the credits are done rolling.
MTV Multiplayer got in touch with executive producer Todd Howard, and this is what he simply had to say about the possibility of having a post-ending adventure for Fallout 3 PS3: "Not at this time, no."

Lessons to be learned from Fallout 3....
The massive success of “Fallout 3,” combined with previous statements from Bethesda Softworks that they intended to produce multiple “Fallout” games support this. It’s simply a matter of when “Fallout 4″ will show up.
But as Bethesda finishes up work on the downloadable content packages coming to “Fallout 3,” we can’t help but wonder what’s coming in “Fallout 4.”
As part of an e-mail interview with “Fallout 3″ executive producer Todd Howard, we asked him what he’s learned from making “Fallout 3″ that will carry into “Fallout 4.” His answer was short, sweet and told us nothing.
“Greatest lesson? Don’t let the game end, and don’t have a level cap,” said Howard.

people may have issues with Bethesda, but at least they learn. they ditched the completely scaled leveling after Oblivion, but i hope ES5 will be more like Morrowind in that regard.

Some users are encountering problems with the Operation Anchorage dlc for PC:
PC gamers are reporting a number of issues with installing and playing the recently released Fallout 3 DLC, Operation: Anchorage.
The problem seems to be that after you download and install the game, and even after the Games For Windows client has told you that it's been installed, the DLC doesn't seem to go into effect in-game. Technically, you should be able to wander to a certain spot in the Wasteland, whereupon you'll pick up a mysterious radio signal that will lead to the new content. For a number of players, however, that radio signal never shows up.
Users have figured out a backdoor solution to the problem, but it isn't exactly painless. As Fitzycent93 of the GFW Forums discovered, the Operation: Anchorage data is nestled in a folder buried on your hard drive for GFW's DLC. Once the folder's found, users will have to copy the files inside the Data folder in their Fallout 3 directory. Then, enter the game and select the Anchorage.esm file to run, and load your save. The radio signal near the Red Racer factory should show up and you'll be on your way to Anchorage. One catch, though: Achievements won't be unlocked because technically you won't be playing through the GFW interface.

First details for The Pitt dlc for the game:
he latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine in the United Kingdom has revealed the first details on the upcoming The Pitt downloadable content pack for Fallout 3.
The Pitt takes place in Pittsburgh's steel-making district, described by OXM as a "stunning dystopia that's unlike any other area in Fallout 3's world".
Pittsburgh will have a large 'dungeon' area, an abandoned steel yard, and a settlement divided in two; Downtown, who's occupants are the slaves, and Haven, occupied by their masters.
The new content will allow players to interact with Raiders for the first time rather than just blow their heads off. One quest will have you play the role as a slave, undercover, looking into rumors that the Raider boss has found a cure for mutation.
The Pitt also promises unique items, such as the Auto Axe, and sidequests, and will release in March.
