Some tidbits regarding resi evil 5:
Capcom has revealed some very interesting details about Resident Evil 5 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in its latest press release. Capcom wants to sell 2.3 million units of Resident Evil 5. "In addition to developing tools, we have also strengthened our game development structure. As more than 400 people including company employees and outside contractors are working on this particular title, we have reorganized the structure to assign appropriate human resources, manage development process and offer mental health care to staff in order to ensure smooth operation. Our belief while developing Resident Evil 5 was that no detail was too small when it came to graphics.". Capcom went to Africa to improve Resident Evil 5 graphics, "Our staff visited Africa, a new backdrop in the series, to experience the real Africa where the contrast between light and the darkness is stunning.". Capcom has also announced that Resident Evil series sold 34.5 million units worldwide.

Wesker returns for Resi Evil 5!
Famitsu scans have revealed two new characters set to join the PS3 and Xbox 360's Resident Evil 5 cast. Chris Redfield's little outing in Africa couldn't get any better as his age-old nemesis is back for another bout. Yes, Albert Wesker is indeed to appear in RE5.
I'm sure you guys remember him - first seen in Resident Evil, then appeared again in RE: Code Veronica, RE Zero, RE4, and of course, played a pivotal role in Umbrella Chronicles. Oh, and the RE: Extinction movie too.
Wesker has always been around - so seeing him now in RE5 may not come as a surprise. If RE6 were to be set in the planet Jupiter in the year 2047, you can bet Wesker would also be there... as would his trademarked sunglasses.
The other character confirmed for Capcom's RE5 is one Excella Gionne. She's the president in the African headquarters of TriCell paharmaceutical. As you can expect from middle-aged corporate women, she wears quite a revealing dress and has a tight bun. Like... hair bun "bun," of course, not... oh you get what I mean.
More details from the scan reveal that the online co-op mode will put teamwork as a prime gameplay mechanic, saying that if either of your characters die, the game ends for both.

Resi Evil 5 info overload- apparently info has been leaked:
- The story will who Chris Redfield really is, what he has been doing for the past ten years and the nature of his relationships with the other characters.
- Chris Redfield helped establish the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) after the Raccoon City incident in 1998.
- Much of the story will be told as flashbacks.
- The BSAA has branches all over the world, but the executive decisions – like sending Chris to Africa – are made from the USA.
- Sheva Alomar is part of the West African branch of the BSAA
- Weapons are supplied to Chris and Sheva by Kralin, an ex-BSAA member who is attempting to flee the city with the BirdWoman.
- The guy with the megaphone in the trailer is the richest man in the village and so be default their leader. He is funding the construction seen.
- Wesker will appear about 5% into the game.
- Sherry Birkin will appear in substantially more of the game.
- The following characters will not appear in the game: Jill, Barry, Claire, Billy and Leon.
- Chris and Sheva will face many relationship difficulties.
- The game will take 15 hours to finish and will have 8 hours of cut-scenes… hopefully in addition to the 15 hours.
Capcom want Resident Evil 5 to be the best looking game of 2009 (we can tell you now it won’t be)
- There is a big emphasis on puzzles, many of which a co-op based.
- Co-op drop in and drop-out is confirmed.
- There will be one hour of solo Chris gameplay before you meet Sheva (bags being Chris!)
- No mirages and heat/cold features in the game.
- Flashbacks are not playable (hence 8 hours of cut-scenes, we guess)
- There are 30 weapons in the game, 20 for Chris and 10 for Sheva (seriously, bags being Chris)
- You can use the chainsaw, once you have acquired it from the final fight with Moreso.

Co-op play explained (it will also feature at the TGS):
Ahead of that, the latest issue of Famitsu got the full word on this new addition to the RE world via an interview with producers Jun Takeuchi and Masachika Kawata.
The two gave a bit of background on the co-op mode. While co-op play was unveiled late in the RE5 development time frame, it's actually the base for development, explained Takeuchi.
That's not to say that the game is best only when played online. Takeuchi made the distinction that RE5's online play is really just the game's story mode played either by one or two players. The development staff is putting a lot of effort in that story, added Kawata.
Those who are looking to enjoy the game as both Chris and Shiva may be out of luck. Players take control exclusively of Chris as they work through the game. It's only in co-op mode that players who join in can take control of Shiva. The host player always controls Chris.
At TGS, Capcom will have a total of 50 playable kiosks split 25 to 25 between the Xbox 360 and PS3. This could rise as high as 70 when including demo units in the Sony and Microsoft booths. This is the highest number of demo units Capcom has ever given to one of its games, said Kawata.
After a five minute theater video presentation explaining the game's control system, players will be able to play a short demo that can be cleared in just about 15 minutes.
The developers also shared a few details on Wesker, whose appearance in the game was confirmed in last week's issue. He's quite strong in this latest appearance, explained Takeuchi, noting that he was a strong character in Code Veronica, and it would be unacceptable to make him weaker here. TGS attendees will get to see Wesker in an all new trailer, and Takeuchi thinks fans will make note of his strength.
Development on RE5 is currently at 75%, said Takeuchi during the interview. Actual game content is at 99%, but the next few months will be spent fine tuning the product.

No typewriter saves in resi evil 5:
If there's one thing that's a constant familiar in the Resident Evil franchise, it's the typewriter save system. How many times have you frantically retraced your steps back to that closet where this lone typewriter sits just so you could preserve your progress especially after that grueling zombie-chasing scene in the backyard?
Unfortunately, we won't be getting that in Resident Evil 5 (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360), this according to none other than game producer Jun Takeuchi. Said he, "Actually, I really like typewriters; they're really typical of the Resident Evil series. But this time, he save system will be a combination of checkpoints and chapters."

Resident Evil 5- Wii wouldnt even be able to handle its title screen apparently...
...That's why we were understandably disappointed when it was outed that Resident Evil 5 would not be coming to Nintendo's console -- though according the game's producer, Masachika Kawata, a Wii port of RE5 was never a remote possibility. Due to the game's graphical improvements over the previous installment, "the title screen of this couldn't have been done on PS2 or Wii," Kawata explained in a recent GameTrailers interview.
Nintendo fanboys shouldn't be too disheartened by this somewhat brash claim -- in a later, seperate interview with GameTrailers, Juntake Uchi, yet another producer for the title, said that Capcom would love to continue the Resident Evil franchise on the Wii, though such a reunion is "a couple of years down the road."

very small rumour that resi evil 5 could come to PC:
The survival-horror videogame Resident Evil 5 could be confirmed for the PC platform. Even if Capcom didn't confirm or deny this rumor, you can bet it's at least partially true with other recent ports like Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 4. As a surprise, the release date would be the same as the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, March 12 2009. A couple of months later on the computers is a more realistic view if tradition remains the same.
This rumor comes from a release list sent by Capcom to the Market for Computer and Videogames (MCV) web portal.

Capcom expecting to sell over 3 million copies of Resi Evil 5:
During its second-quarter fiscal report, Capcom said that it expects in its first weeks to sell 3.25 million copies of Resident Evil 5 when it launches in North America March 13th. Considering that Bethesda sold nearly 5 million copies of Fallout 3 in one week, which is also an Xbox 360 and PS3 title, I think RE5 should be able to achieve this number. In fact, it'd be disappointing if it didn't.

New interview, with some good information regarding Resi Evil 5:
EGM flew all the way to Capcom HQ in Osaka Japan, and sat down with Resident Evil 5 devs, Jun Takeuchi, Yasuhiro Anpo, and Kota Suzuki. The interview reveals loads of info on the upcoming title.
Chris Redfield is back and he'll be taking baddies down in Africa. Yet again, an even worse virus spreadsand turns people into zombies. Chris is sent in to investigate the incident, and finds himself caught in the thick of things. Joined by his African companion, Sheva Alomar, Chris will not be alone this time in taking legions of zombies out.
With the majority of the game taking place in broad daylight, concern is brought up as the RE-brand scare would not take effect, seeing as previous titles took place at night. As far as having another character goes, Takeuchi believes that adding a second character would even help the tension and scare, as opposed to having a lone character.
The game is set for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and the devs believe they're pushing the console specs to the limit. They also addressed various issues regarding multiplayer and online game modes to accommodate co-op dynamics.
Re-play value is also an issue, and the devs made sure that you will definitely have to play again to get everything. Unfortunately, they can't give details as of yet. "There will be a number of reasons for you to play through the game once you've already cleared it. However, if I were to tell you about all of them today, [RE5 coproducer] Masachika Kawata would probably get angry at me," Takeuchi said. Apart from bonuses, devs are still working on DLC.
One of the biggest changes in the market since Resident Evil 4 came out is the introduction of downloadable content. And we would like to take advantage of that, but we're still thinking about what form it will take. Nothing's been decided.
