anyone know the possibility of getting it on the wii eventually? it looks like it has the same kind of controls as 4 which translated to the wii pretty well.
Sega's president apparently revealed it was coming to Wii, but it is generally assumed he mis-spoke. Dead Rising is making the transition, though, so it's not impossible.
It was announced at E3. Also worth noting it's a remake rather than a direct port, to account for the hardware difference. This will also hopefully mean they sort a lot of the issues the game had and make it better. I think you can count on less zombies, though.
Any Wii version of RE5 will likely be the same way. You wouldn't be getting the same experience as you would on 360 or PS3, you'd be getting it repackaged, a bit diluted and (if necessary) fixed. Up to you how good that is.
Capcom has released all-new gameplay footage taken from the PlayStation 3 version of its upcoming horror-action title, Resident Evil 5.
Set in the same dilapidated village location from the E3 demo, the video showcases protagonists Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar battling against hordes of infected locals, as well as aiding each other’s progress via the game’s new co-op system.
Coming from a very press release-sounding article over at Electronic Theatre, the release date for the long-awaited Resident Evil 5 is a fitting Friday, the 13th of March.
Features noted include:
* Chris Redfield, protagonist of the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, returns
* Chris is joined by new character Sheva Alomar, an African special agent tasked with investigating the epidemic
* 2 player Co-Op online gameplay means that players are not alone in their fight against the horror lurking around every corner
* Simultaneous Pan Western release date for both PLAYSTATION3 and Xbox360 on March 13th, 2009
* New enemies bring new challenges: speed Electronic Theatre Image and intelligence make adversaries as dangerous singly as they are in groups.
* An arsenal of weapons at the player's command to keep the evil at bay, including knives, pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles and more.
* Lighting effects provide a new level of suspense in both harsh light and deepest shadow
* True High-Definition gaming on multiple game platforms, using an advanced version of Capcom's proprietary game engine, MT Framework, which powered the Current-Generation, million-plus hit titles Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet and Dead Rising.
Gamepro sat down with Resident Evil 5 Producer Masachika Kawata at the Leipzig conference for a chat- extracts below, read link for more:
The most challenging thing is that you have to create an interesting game to play with. To create this from nothing is always the most difficult. It's quite easy to create a game up to the point where you can play through it. After that, the difficulty comes when you have to tune and balance the game so that it creates powerful emotional reactions.
I was originally under the impression that it would be more of an action game, but I can tell you that this is a horror game. And in co-op mode, it's double the horror. The co-operative component works on a motivational level and really increases the level of horror.
There are lots of different situations like this where you have to work with your partners. We're planning on creating a video montage of gameplay footage where we compile the ways the two partners interact.
Timeline-wise, this is a realistic game so we're not going to be jumping to the north pole in terms of location. In RE4 the location didn't change. In RE5, because the scenes change more and locations change, you will have more incentive to keep playing. We have quite a good story line, and the characters we've tried to develop to be as real as possible. This will be an epic entertainment piece. You'll be scared, you'll cry, and you'll laugh...well, you won't really laugh all that much, actually
According to a poster on japanese forum 2ch and apparently in the next issue of Famitsu, capcom are working on an exclusive Wii remake of Resident Evil 2:
The board claims that Famitsu have announced a full remake of Resident Evil 2 for the Wii akin to the remake of Resident Evil on the GameCube. Parts of the game supposedly take part from a viewpoint similar to Resident Evil 4, with addition story elements and a new knight-like "swordsman" creature apparently confirmed as new content. -
I know a lot of people were waiting for this. I remember wondering why RE2 wasn't part of umbrella Chronicles and just assumed they were doing a remake. there's also the fact that this new movie happens to have clair and leon in it.
If it is true, this is the sweetest thing ever.
A rumour that the controls may be changed, which will be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show:
Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi has confirmed that Capcom will be showcasing an all-new “Gears-like” control system for the upcoming Survival Horror title at the Tokyo Games Show next month.
The move comes following earlier hints at E3, where Takeuchi stated, “…don't be surprised if at the Tokyo Game Show, the controls are different... I'm not confirming or denying anything, but we like to surprise people."
Resident Evil 5 currently utilizes the same control scheme as its predecessor, resulting in a fair amount of criticism from the gaming press following a playable demo of the title appeared at E3 and Leipzig. A recent preview from website CVG also suggests the presence of some form of cover system.
Im with you, i hope they dont mess with it either- or at least leave it as an option.

Capcom representatives have said that the publisher shares little concern over Resident Evil 5’s competition within the horror genre, citing the fact it is working hard to enhance the quality of the highly anticipated Survival Horror outing.
Speaking during a Q&A session following the company’s Q1 financial results, a Capcom representative commented, “The Resident Evil series has strong brand power and a special game concept, which builds a new view of the world that you can’t find in any other games.”
“Capcom is not all that concerned about competition with distribution titles, since the quality of our Resident Evil 5 is also being enhanced. Rather, we are at the stage of devising strategies to expand its sales further.
Resident Evil 5 takes place ten years after the events of the original game, placing gamers in control of series veteran, Chris Redfield, who has been dispatched to Africa along with newcomer Sheva Alomar to investigate the latest bio-terrorism threat.
