Capcom considering more dlc:
Speaking with ButtonBasher, Capcom VP Christian Svensson told the site that Dark Void and Bionic Commando will be available on Steam at the same time as retail, as the company is taking digital distribution “very seriously.”
Svensson also said that more DLC for Resident Evil is being considered, however “there’s nothing to announce by any stretch,” despite the forum thread requests for it being “hundreds of posts long.”

Resident Evil: Director's Cut available on PSN:
Survival horror fans (and fans of terrible dialogue) will find a treat on the PlayStation Network tomorrow: the PSOne classic Resident Evil Director's Cut. The 1997 game which received an 8.9 from IGN will be downloadable for $10. This first entry in the Resident Evil series provided not only scares and thrills, but also some of the most laughably bad writing and voice acting in gaming history.
The Director's Cut was released 18 months after the original and included "Arranged Mode," which mixed up item and enemy locations. It's now playable on both PlayStation 3 and PSP

Next installment of Resi Evil expected to be a revamp or reboot of the series:
Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi has admitted that he doesn’t expect to head a possible sixth installment in the popular survival horror franchise, a sentiment also shared by his fellow Resident Evil 5 co-producer, Masachika Kawata.
Speaking at the San Diego Comic Con this week, Takeuchi said, “it doesn't appear as though either of us is going to be in charge,” before humorously remarking that both he and Kawata were "playing blackjack to decide who is going to be stuck with the responsibility".
The most recent entry in the series, Resident Evil 5, hit shops in March 2009 and eventually went on to shift a staggering five million copies worldwide, making it the most successful RE title to date. Talk on a follow up has been floating around the web over the past couple of months, with many fans anticipating a complete series revamp

resi evil 4 now on iPhone/iPod Touch:
Capcom's Resident Evil 4 for the iPhone/iPod Touch is available for download in Apple's App Store right now for $7.99. The game weighs in at 37.3 MB, and from its description appears to follow the plot of the console titles, with players taking the role of Leon Kennedy as he embarks on a mission to rescue the President's daughter.
Capcom is boasting that it features the "best 3d graphics to date on iPhone," as well as an unlockable "Mercenaries Mode." The game's tap controls and set-up look similar to Capcom's other iPhone/iPod Touch Resident Evil title, Resident Evil: Degeneration.

A look at the sound process involved in making Resi Evil 5:
A goat and two members of BSAA walk into an African village. The start of some lame joke? No, just a way to introduce a tough technical hurdle for Capcom's sound team that was brought on by Resident Evil 5's split screen multiplayer play.
The problem is actually simple. Here it is, as introduced by Capcom sound creators Shinya Okada and Yoshiki Sando at yesterday's Capcom's Sound Creation Method 2009 event at the Apple Store in Ginza.
Let's say you have a scene with Chris Redfield and Sehva Alomar. Between them, there's a goat. A zombie goat? No, just a goat.
Separating the game's visuals for two players is easy. But how can you separate the sound experience? Also, RE5 has full surround sound support, so you also have to figure out what to do when Chris, Sheva, and the goat are lined up like this
Okada and Sando suggested that we attend their sound lecture at Tuesday's CEDEC event in Yokohama to find out. Unlike the free Apple store event, the CEDEC lecture costs $200 a head.
This little goat example was one of many interesting perspectives on Resident Evil 5's sound creation that Okada and Shinya shared during their one hour presentation. The two offered a general introduction to all areas of sound production for Capcom's biggest hit of the year.
The lecture started off with a video clip that I hope Capcom will share with the rest of the world. There's a scene in RE5 where Chris and Sheva confront Wesker. It's a pretty dramatic scene (as dramatic as a Resident Evil game can get, at least), but to show the importance of sound, Okada and Shinya replaced the soundtrack with cartoon noises. The scene proves to have a bit less impact with boing sounds.

Resi Evil 5 Directors Cut rumoured....
Patricia Ja Lee, the voice actress for Jill Valentine, has revealed that she will reprise her role for the character in Resident Evil 5: The Director’s Cut.
Granted, a Director’s Cut has not been announced despite this being TGS week, and Lee may be referring to DLC instead.
Who knows really. We will mail Capcom and see if anyone bites.

Its been announced at the TGS:
From IGN:
During Sony Computer Entertainment Japan's press conference at the Tokyo Game Show this evening, Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi took the stage and announced Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition.
The new edition makes use of Sony's latest Motion Wand controller. Graphically it looks the same as the original Resident Evil 5, except for an added cursor on screen reflecting your motion control movements. You play with one hand holding the Wand and the other a Dual Shock 3.
Besides motion controls, the game has additional content as requested by fans, Takeuchi said.
There will also be a teaser trailer shown later.
It's scheduled ship date is Spring 2010 in Japan, the same time as the expected shipping date for the Motion Wand, meaning this could be a launch title. No word on if this game is exclusive to the PlayStation 3 due to the control scheme.

TGS 09: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Hands-On Preview
What G4 Knows: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is the sequel to 2007's Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. Both games are retellings of RE classics from the PlayStation era, redone as light gun shooters for Wii. My last hands-on demo came during E3, when I played through a remixed section of RE: Code Veronica. RE: DC offers up some high-octane co-op action while rewarding both hardcore fans and casual gamers (read: loved ones who couldn't understand why those hardcore fans were so into the series over the years) with individualized difficulty settings during each playthrough.
What's New for TGS: Something big, actually. Although Capcom's been showing off levels inspired by Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica up to this point, the publisher had something completely different up its sleeve today. In a mission titled "Operation Javier," I stepped into Leon S. Kennedy's shoes to play a pre-Resident Evil 4 mission in South America. Leon's partner? Krauser. Yep, "Knife Fight Krauser." The mission aims to provide some backstory to the two characters' mutual animosity in RE4. Both men are special forces members at this point in the series timeline, and they've been sent to South America to track down Javier Hidalgo, a notorious drug lord who's suspected of having ties to Umbrella Corporation. It's no small coincidence that at the same time that the two men are hunting him down, there's been a rash of disappearances in the area.
There are only so many ways that you can describe the play style of a retro-inspired on-rails shooter, but "Operation Javier" definitely has some moments that resemble Resident Evil 5. The flooded village has elements of that game's shanty towns in its art style, and that's no coincidence. Some RE: DC's team also helped out with the level designs of RE5. I also shot my way through new mutated B.O.W. classes, including deadly man-sized mutant frogs. It's an interesting break from the sort of environments I'm used to seeing after 13 years of playing Resident Evil.

Capcom Reveals New Details About Motion-Control Enabled Resident Evil 5
Capcom has revealed some new details about Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition, the controller/motion-controlled version of Resident Evil 5 that Sony demoed during Tokyo Game Show. According to Famitsu (via IGN), the new standalone, motion-wand compatible title will also feature a new story chapter that will follow Chris Redfield and RE vet Jill Valentine during a mission set three years before RE5.
Capcom says that the new chapter, which was originally part of RE5 until it was cut due to narrative conflicts, will last about two hours, and will be more horror-focused than RE5. The new edition, and the new chapter, will be online compatible with the original game, so co-op and versus fans can rest assured.
Now, I don’t know about you, but from what I saw of the gameplay demo during TGS, using a wand and a PS3 controller seems like a very uncomfortable and awkward experience. I mean, the game is already clunky enough with just a standard controller. Then again, maybe the game will benefit greatly from the addition of the motion controller. Time will tell.
Capcom also revealed that RE5: Alternative Edition will be making its way onto the Xbox 360 sometime down the road. Considering the game is getting motion controls for the PS3, it’s not too far fetched to assume that Capcom will eventually release a version of the game that incorporates Project Natal support. But again, time will tell.

Vote On Whether Resident Evil 5's New Content Should Be DLC Or In A New Box

The additional content announced for Resident Evil 5: Alternate Edition at Tokyo Game Show, which has Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine teaming up for a prologue mission against archenemy Albert Wesker, is coming to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In Japan, Capcom will be issuing a brand-new box with the additional content , but no decision has been made for over here. Why? Because Capcom isn't sure whether it should release a new package or downloadable content.
"Bsed on the success of the RE5 'Versus' downloadable content, as well as digital-only titles like Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Marvel VS Capcom 2," said Capcom head of public relations Chris Kramer on the Unity blog, "we know that the demand for DLC in the west is huge. More and more, gamers in North America and Europe want content immediately and are less inclined to be tied to boxes and packages."
In a freshingly honest move, Capcom is asking gamers to vote on its website. It's unclear how much influence the vote will have on the overall decision, but given Capcom USA's embracing of digital distribution in the past, if an overwhelming amount of gamers would like to purchase the content through a download service, it seems likely to happen.
The company did pull a similar move with Bionic Commando Rearmed, asking gamers to vote for what price they would pay for the downloadable remake. Capcom picked the price gamers voted for.
"Once we get it all sorted, we'll report back with an official announcement," said Kramer.

I don't even have the game, but I voted for DLC. Seems like a waste to make all those extra discs with a majority of the same content on it, and I'm sure they'll make more sales since almost everyone who bought the game will buy the extra content, for a reasonable price.

New images of the Alternate version of Resi Evil 5:
Capcom's Biohazard 5: Alternative Edition, the new game mode will take you back 3 years ago in a mansion similar to BH1. The motion controller will provide more intuitive control when you aim with the gun or use weapons like knives...
The story will take place in a mansion with familiar elements from Biohazard 1, but played with the partner system in BH5. The PS3 version will have motion controller support, the control will be more intuitive when you use alternative weapons like knives. There will be puzzle solving elements which involve the use of motion controller. The combats in the Alternative Edition will be quite different from BH5.
