Okay, I'm going to go into this topic a bit further, because I own a bit of Naruto games.
Currently, I've played Naruto Ultimate Ninja (#1 of the series in Japan), Naruto Narutimett Portable (a scaled-down port of the 3rd version to the PSP) and Naruto Gekito Ninja Taisen 4 for the Gamecube.
The PS2 variants of Naruto are meant to be more like Super Smash Brothers in their fighting style and support characters.
The PSP variant is like the PS2 game, so it's also a Super Smash Brothers clone.
The GCN variant is a bit different. It's much more like a normal fighting game than the Sony variants. But it tries to give you the option of more than just two players as you can play 2v2 (all players), 3v3 (players vs AI) and more. The game also features the Kawarimi no Jutsu (Replacement Technique) and tag-action (think Tekken Tag, but better) which allows you to speed up the action and bring a bit of unsuspected manuevers into the game. Although Kawarimi no Jutsu takes 3 out of the 4 max chakra blocks just to perform, which makes it quite the bummer :/.
Also, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja, like I mentioned is only the first in the Naruto Narutimett Hero trilogy. The third game features somewhere around 40 characters compared to the lack-luster first game. Although the Gamecube game offers about 35-ish characters, about 15 have to be unlocked, but it's not too bad.
The best thing about the imports is... no crummy English voices! Also no crummy English text that I need to have to be able to understand. |
