| I bought Xenosaga about a year ago used. It worked fine for roughly a month, then just stopped. My playstation is in fine condition. I don't have problems with any other games. The disc has not visible scratches or smudges. Help. |

What console are you using, and from what year? |

| Obviously a PS2, probably an older generation. What you should try doing is opening up your console and cleaning off the lens. You can find instructions online. If you can't, let me know and I'll take the sweet time out of MY day just to help you out. |

Last time I took my PS2 apart to clean the lens I ended up stumbling in drunk, play fighting with one of my mates and then accidentally kicking the PS2. The PS2 was opened up on the floor and when I kicked it the ribbon for the power switch snapped and now the PS2 is ****ed, but in the middle of an insurance scandle xP
I had this disk read error problem with 2 of my PS2's. Luckily the first time it was under warranty. The second time was when I broke it. I'm now on my third PS2. This is why I refuse to buy the PS3 when it comes out. |

I think you can use DVD cleaning discs to clean off your PS2 lens (works on my XBOX, but I don't know on a PS2).
Too bad you can't do like on the PS1, where you'd open the CD player, spin the disc yourself and close it back. It did work |

| I've opened my PS2 numerous times to clean the lens (and also have done some of my mate's a couple times each). It just gets too much dust on it. I wipe it off using a dry q-tip and that does the trick. |

| PS2's can have problems because Xenosaga is on a dual-layered DVD. You could try a Disc Dr. or Game Dr. repair kit, but in all honesty, it's probably the first sign of trouble for your PS2. I'm on my third one myself, and I don't know anyone who's had the same PS2 since launch. It's just unheard of. These things are not built to last. Next, your CD format games will start to act up, then your DVD's. Try the game on another PS2 before you buy a disc repair kit or another PS2. |

Same thing happened to me. Took it apart to clean it, left it apart, and my dog ran through and tore the ribbon. ****.
Anyways, sometimes PlayStation 2's malfunction and just don't work properly. I've also heard of cases where the PS2 has caught fire, although it's never personally happened to me. I'd suggest taking Xenosaga back (good game) and get your money, or try your best to fix your PS2. |

indeed, you can probably chalk up any problem you're having to the wonderful engineering from the boys at Sony. i've owned a minimum of 2 of each of the other Playstations, and like Turks, it's much of the reason i don't really care to shell out 600 or even 500 on a PS3.
sounds like you'll have to get yourself a new system unless you can somehow pull a Jesus on your current one
