| Anyone who has played this game? This game plays much like Star Ocean and Kingdom Hearts (since you control only one player, whereas your other party members are AI-controlled). It is like tri-Ace/Square-Enix's answer to Konami's Suikoden series because you'll have to recruit 174 characters (there are 177 characters in all, but three of them are the main characters, namely Jack, Ganz, and Ridley). |

| I've heard about it, but never got my hands on it. Is it any good? |

| I heard the main storyline can be completed in 15 hours, but the actual game, with side-quests and all, can take up to well over 100 hours. |

I have it... Honestly, I wasn't all that impressed overall, but it did have it's moments.
Once nice thing is that there are two separate storylines. You choose sides mid-game, and depending on which side you take, you get different events and a different ending.
But really, the whole recruiting all 174 characters was kind of a pain. Especially when some of the strongest are really easy to recruit (like Gil of the light elves, for example... all you have to do is beat him once in battle, and then he kicks more ass than the main characters for the rest of the game).
All in all, it's fun, though. Kind of a neat story... if a little predictable. Though I have to admit, I was a little surprised by the ending when you play the human side. |

| This game is good, but it needed a real infusion of challenge to keep it interesting for most people. It's cool being able to choose from two different paths, but the writing isn't enough of a motivation to make it worth it. The first few hours of the game are hilarious and entertaining, but then the game makes a turn into predictable territory and stays there. |

| The gameplay was very bleh. The story was alright. By far not the greatest game ever played, but it definately had heart. |

Did I mention that it has an adorable light elf named Gil? Who kicks major ass against your enemies? And who is adorable?

He's a poof.
My favorite part of the game was recruiting the Valkyrie from Valkyrie Profile. |

O beautiful blooming Rose
with your dripping red petals,
graceful green leaves,
and fragrant, lustrous smell.
Take my blood with those lips.
Taste it with that tongue.
Moisten that throat.
Then wither, scatter.
And then the rose will be pregnant with destruction.

This game has quite a number of references to anime. For instance, Jack calling Leonard "Pops" and Leonard replying "Stop calling me pops" is actually a reference to the anime Gear Fighter Dendoh. The same was also made reference in Episode 44 of Gundam SEED between Dearka Elsman and Mu La Flaga. Just so you know, Gear Fighter Dendoh and Gundam SEED has the same director, Mitsuo Fukuda. Maybe this could be one reason why Nami Tamaki became the choice for the theme song of the game, "Fortune". Unfortunately this is only available in the Japanese version. The US version has been "stripped".
Another reference would be Spoiler : click to show/hide [ in the Dragon Lair Cave, where Jack goes into SEED mode upon entering the bonus dungeon for the first time, which is likely a reference to Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny. ]
