Bruce Willis will play Kane in Kane & Lynch movie:

Adrian Askarieh has told Game Daily that Bruce Willis will play Kane in the upcoming Kane & Lynch movie. The role of Lynch is yet to be cast.

“The script has been incredibly well-received around town,” said Askarieh. “After Bruce Willis read it, he called it one of the best action scripts he’s ever read, and Bruce is an expert in terms of action scripts because he’s read everything over the last 20 years.”

Uncharted film rumours- Hugh Jackman for the lead?

According to Nolan North, who was a guest on the latest OPM UK podcast, the voice of Nathan Drake himself stated that Hugh Jackman is on top of the list of actors to play the swashbuckling hero in the Uncharted film.

Stating that he himself would like to be cast as Drake, North admits that just having a part in the film would be enough.

“I would love to do the movie, obviously I’d love to do it as Nathan Drake, but I’ve done film and television and I understand the reality of the business,” he said.

“Jackman is who I’d like to see. I think the producers would like to see Jackman too, because he has that tough guy exterior, but there’s also a lot going on behind his eyes. A lot of emotion and sensitivity on that brusque exterior, and he has great comic timing. He’s a phenomenal actor.

“I just hope I get a part on the movie so I can work with Hugh.”

Loads of Uncharted fans have stated since the beginning that if a film were made of the game, they’d prefer Firefly and Serenity star Nathan Fillion, if only because he looks the part.

First trailer for the prince of persia movie:

The first ever trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has just popped up online. It’s not quite what I expected. That’s a good thing since what I expected was some sort of half-hearted Mummy franchise knockoff. Instead, the whole thing has a strangely sci-fi vibe which really works. The one exception to how much fun this seems is Jake Gyllenhaal, who I’m not sure I buy as a rugged hero and who’s accent sounds… well… odd. But maybe we just need to see more.

Nathan Fillion would be pretty cool for Uncharted, based on what I know about the games.

Set pics from the upcoming Resident Evil movie with Wentworth Miller and Milla Jovovich:

On the heels of actress Milla Jovovich tweeting these updates from the set of Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil: Afterlife, two pics from the set have surfaced online!

The first you see is a good look at Jovovich as Alice, Ali Larter, Spencer Locke and, newcomer to the series, Wentworth Miller. I would have had a laugh if one of these pics actually showed Jovovich furiously tweeting one her phone. Once again, Jovovich is sportin' a new look; gotta wonder who all of the people in white are...

Until they make Bubble Bobble into a movie, I do not support this videogame-into-movie crap. My roommate's not-boyfriend wanted to watch Max Payne on Halloween...and my god. My appreciation for Mark Wahlberg declined severely.

Haha Bubble Bobble! I did hear that they are making a Risk movie!

Gyllenhaal says PoP movie isnt the normal videogame to movie affair:

Looks like the Prince of Persia flick won’t be your typical videogame adaption, according to the Prince himself, Jake Gyllenhaal.

Which is why the actor wanted to be in it to begin with.

“It wasn’t like your normal video game adaptation,” he told Moviefone. “It was this massive epic that they had in the works; this real classic story that was emotional and real and filled with just ridiculous turns and twists.

“And that’s what makes it intriguing to me.”

Paul W.S. Anderson Eyes Metal Gear Solid Movie?

Fans have surely been waiting a long time for the inevitable news of a film adaptation of the Metal Gear Solid games. How, then, would those fans feel, should a name such as Paul W.S. Anderson become attached to the project? Well, it turns out that there's a chance we may find out.

Website ShockTillYouDrop was recently in Toronto on the set of the Anderson-directed Resident Evil: Afterlife and conducted a brief interview with producer (and Anderson colleague) Jeremy Bolt. In addition to updating the status of the long-discussed Castlevania film, he dropped a bit of bombshell when he stated that Anderson would like adapt Konami's Metal Gear Solid game franchise for the big screen. That is the extent of what is known on the MGS issue, but more will surely develop to clarify (or perhaps shoot down) its significance.

The other recent Anderson-related tidbit revolves around the Castlevania project. When we last heard, in July, Saw co-creator James Wan was on board to direct the film, and it seemed like a lock. Anderson has been on board as a producer for the prospective film over at Rogue pictures, but it seemed like he was ceding the director's chair to Wan's vision. However, in the aforementioned interview with Jeremy Bolt, he revealed that Anderson is once again circling the project.

See, when I hear about video game movies being made by guys who made other video game movies, it upsets me. All video games are not part of a single genre and cannot have the same treatment in all films. Video game movies are, sadly, a stagnant genre and that doesn't look like it'll change soon if you continue having every film made by the same three guys.

Metal Gear Solid in the style of the Resident Evil movies will be terrible. The Resident Evil movies almost entirely lacked what made the video games interesting in the first place - the feeling of being alone in a big dark mansion/police station/city that is being overrun by flesh eating zombies that you can always hear moaning and that you know can attack at any second. Survival horror. I don't feel like the movies really tapped into that. So when I hear that this guy who has so much experience making video game movies as though all video games are identical, it makes me wonder how he will fuck up the unique qualities of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo making Bioshock encourages me. To a lesser degree, so does Mike Newell making Prince of Persia. At least he's a real filmmaker, and I don't think a real filmmaker has tackled a video game project so far. At worst it'll be a bit disposable, but I think it could be above average summer blockbuster fare (I'm not that optimistic, really).

Although, honestly, they could just give up on this and come up with original ideas and I wouldn't really be too bothered. Video games are already a visual medium and we should concentrate on making video games a more interesting art form instead of just trying to lift all the artistic aspects out of a video game and deposit them into a film.

Paul W.S. Anderson shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a franchise as complex and nuanced as Metal Gear Solid. It'd be best if they'd just let Kojima direct it himself, but fat chance of that happening.

I'd rather see Paul Anderson direct it than Hideo Kojima direct it. The man has no fucking restraint. He would turn a 90 minute film into a ten film epic.

I would love to see a Hideo Kojima film, no matter what it is.

My impression of video game movies is that the filmmakers see the video games as pre-existing advertisements/hype for their movies. It's like some of them don't understand that a video game is a medium for art as much as films are. They think they're creating an artistic rendering of a children's toy that goes beep bop boop. And when it comes down to it, they get the beep, they even get the bop, but they never really get a hold of the boop. That's what video games have that films don't: the boop.

Silent Hill 2 to start filming next year:

Silent Hill special makeup effects designer Paul Jones gave ShockTillYouDrop.com an update about the sequel today on the Toronto set for Resident Evil: Afterlife.

"I was working on storyboards for that around the same time last year," Jones revealed. "It's going to be pretty crazy. There's a lot of cool stuff in there. Roger (Avary) has some awesome ideas and hopefully we're going to bring that to fruition sometime next year."

Uwe Bolls Farcry trailer....

What do I say about the filmmaker who's known to stir controversy, has a 0% on the Tomatometer and is the target of an online petition with over 300,000 signatures demanding he stop making movies? How about ‘ugh?’ It’s with great sadness that I report another Uwe Boll travesty is heading our way.

Far Cry is based on the popular first-person shooter videogames featuring an ex-U.S. Special Forces operative named Jack Carver (Til Schwiger). While escorting a female journalist (Emmanuelle Vaugier) to a mysterious island in the Pacific Northwest, they’re ambushed and hunted down by a gang under the leadership of scientist, Dr. Krieger (Udo Kier). While on the run, they find and unleash Dr. Krieger’s genetically engineered beasts.

Call of Duty Movie Moving Forward?

They say there's no business like show business. Like any other business might, the powers-that-be in Los Angeles seem to have noticed there is a big video game out right now called Modern Warfare 2 and they would like to diversify their investment portfolios into an intellectual property with a built-in fan base and cross-sector identifiability in the 15-34 year old demographic in order to fully leverage merchandising opportunities and bring in a potential windfall profit that ultimately boosts stock prices and contributes to the overall financial health of their parent corporation and its shareholders. In other words: People are talking about a Call of Duty movie. Great.

In an interview with something called PopWrap, Kevin McKidd who plays Captain "Soap" MacTavish in Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2, said of playing the role: "They were looking for a rough, Scottish actor in Hollywood they probably couldn't get Gerard Butler, so they got the No. 2 Gerard Butler, me. I had no idea it would be so huge, and now there are talks of a feature film. Will he play Soap in the big screen version: "if the script is good, and Gerard isn't available [laughs], then absolutely."

Yeah, ha, ha, McKidd, absolutely. We all know you won't be playing Soap in a big-screen MW 2 movie. That role would go to someone more famous and less suited to it... or it will be written out of the movie entirely in favor of a wisecracking robot sidekick.
