SF4 actually looks a quite promising game, this film does not.
Resident Evil 4 film looks like its gearing up:
Paul Anderson wrote the screenplay but he is not coming back to direct.
The screenplay is more akin to RE2 in terms of style, but with better dialogue. The overall tone is also very dark.
There's enough hand to hand fights in the script for them to bring in a martial arts choreographer.
Patrick Tatopoulos (R3) will be in charge of the creature effects and they will have a new Special FX supervisor (in terms of the the practical effects) - Michael Lantieri (JURASSIC PARK 3)
The script is complete (they're at Draft 2)) and they're going to start casting before making any more script changes.
So far, they will be filming in Toronto and Tokyo. Toronto will actually front for Alaska.
They will be hiring a director once they have Milla officially signed back on.

Alot of grain there, so I might like it better in the theater or even on DVD.
That said, it wasn't that exciting to watch. It wasn't a bad fight scene, but it was pretty average and a little dull.
When the main character is fighting a group of bad guys and not a one can lay a hand on him/her, you eventually stop worrying about the character's safety and, if alot of the flick is like that, you stop caring about character altogether.
Shots of the main character kicking everyone's ass works for trailers, but it becomes boring when whole fight scenes are like that.

Yeah, those are some great points. Something tells me it might be like that for a large part of the film too.

Chun Li movie wont be screened for the critics- doesnt bode well:
What?!? No screening for critics? Why not? I'm sure there are those who are on the edge of their seats waiting for the release of this. I can't believe they're not going to let anyone get an early peak and give an early review. What could possibly be the reason for this?
Variety reports:
Which means those who want to see it opening night will have to brave those treacherous waters review-free. Of course, in 95% of cases, not screening a movie is the studio's way of admitting critics are sure to hate it -- usually because it's bad, occassionally because it's a genre, like horror, that critics rarely appreciate.
All kidding aside, I'm sure this isn't much of a surprise. I actually feel a little bad for Kristen Kreuk. But not too much. She really started annoying me on "Smallville." Not sure if that was entirely her fault or the writers but whatever. She made her choice to leave the show (thankfully) and pursue a "movie" career.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li Movie Clips
Looks like my previous concern isn't something to be worried about, but these new clips bring up more reasons not to see this film.
First off, Kristin Kreuk looks like she's 15 years-old. I don't buy her kicking my mailman's ass, let alone the greatest fighters in the world.
Secondly, the voice coming from her in these clips sound too old and strong, to be her actual voice. Then again, all the characters in these clips seem to have had their voices poorly dubbed in. I know actors frequently have to come in and record a dub of their dialog, but this is ****ty dubbing.
And thirdly, the fights scenes are as laughably over-stylized as the ones seen in "DOA: Dead Or Alive". But, at least the creators of "DOA" had the good sense to realize that they were making an extremely silly film and just had fun with it, while we're being told that this flick is a serious attempt at a "Street Fighter" film franchise.
Another **** adaption, it seems.

50 Cent wants to make a Saints Row movie...
50 Cent has apparently just said he wants to make a Saints Row movie.
“With my relationship with THQ, they’ll actually see me develop Saint’s Row into an actual screeplay and into a film project,” he told US journalists.
“I’m optioning the rights for that right now, so they’ll see that before they see me do it from my own perspective for my game.”

Press conference with the actors/producers of Streetfighter Chun Li movie:
In a press conference to promote the film last weekend, stars Chris Klein and Kristin Kreuk and producers Patrick Aiello and Ashok Amritraj discussed how they went about trying to achieve a rare feat: A videogame adaptation that doesn’t royally suck.
Are any of you gamers at all?
Kristin Kreuk: Chris is.
Chris Klein: I’ve been known to play some videogames.
How bout the old Street Fighter games?
Klein: How bout em? I started (with) Street Fighter 2 on Super Nintendo. That was the first Street Fighter that I played outside of the arcade.
Were you good at it?
Klein: No, not nearly as good as my peers, but I liked it. I remember it being the first one-on-one action fighting game that I really liked.
Kristin, had you played the game at all before making this movie?
Kreuk: I didn’t. I’ve never been a gamer but I’ve seen a lot of Street Fighter and it was really popular when I was in late elementary school into high school, so I’m very familiar with it. I’ve seen a lot of people play it.
Your character, Chun-Li, is bit more pear-shaped in the games…
Kreuk: You think she’s pear-shaped? I’d say she’s hourglass-shaped.
Klein: There’s nothing pear about her.
Kreuk: You think she’s pear-shaped?
Well, she has large thighs.
Kreuk: She has ginormo thighs. I don’t have ginormo thighs.
Klein: She’s got athletic thighs. There’s still nothing pear about it.
Kreuk: See, a pear kind of looks like this way (demonstrates with an upside-down wine glass) but she looks more like that (demonstrates an hourglass shape).
Patrick Aiello: The Chun-Li character in the game does a spinning bird kick. By training the spinning bird kick, she develops athletic thighs, to be politically correct.
Kreuk: Not ginormo?
How did you approach the tone of a movie like this? How seriously do you take it?
Ashok Amritraj: Well, part of it is when you have a franchise like Street Fighter, which is kind of iconic and it’s the 20th anniversary, the game company is very protective of the characters and so on. So when we were developing the screenplay, Justin Marks was writing the screenplay, we chose the Chun-Li character to start out what will hopefully be a movie franchise of its own. We kind of had to be very careful and go back and forth with Capcom quite a bit to make sure that while we were separating the game from the movie and wanted to make sure the movie was really grounded, that it still… that the characters -- Bison was from Bangkok originally -- the legend and history of the game was kept a bit intact.
For the actors, how seriously can you take this? I imagine you still want to be earnest with the characters.
Kreuk: I think it’s really important, at least in this story, to be earnest with the characters because you want people to relate to them while they go through the movie. I think it’s really important that the fighting is really good, but you want to be able to root for the individual and that means that the character’s gotta be relatable in some way. If they’re really over the top, it’s harder to relate to them -- in this style of a movie. If it was something else, I think it would be different.
Kristin, your character goes through quite an emotional journey. Can you talk about that aspect of her?
Kreuk: She starts off in the movie very young and she loses both of her parents. I don’t know how old she is when she starts as an adult -- she’s like 20. So she loses her mom at around 20 years old and becomes very angry and wants to go and get revenge on the guy who took her father when she was just a young girl and then ends up on this spiritual path where she seeks out a master and she learns to let go of her attachments so she can see a greater good because her attachments are blinding her sight. And that way she can go out and actually fight for something and understand what it is she’s fighting for.
Chris, had you done a lot of gun training before? Because you do a lot of shooting in this movie.
Klein: I guess the only way to reallyy ever know that is to actually participate in some form of the military, which I never did. The only training that I had up until rehearsals for this picture was making We Were Soldiers a couple of years ago where I played Second Lt. Jack Geoghegan, but this was totally different. Charlie Nash is a run and gun guy, and I have very limited experience with handguns. I don’t own a handgun and it’s not a hobby of mine personally, so upon arriving in Thailand, I started training with some Thai and some Australian special forces that the guys brought in to teach me the appropriate way to use a handgun. We went from Glocks and Walther 9mms all the way through the arsenal to grenade launchers and stuff, so we had a real ball doing that. For any dude to do something like that is pretty darn fun.
Does your character, Charlie Nash, appear in any of the subsequent Street Fighter games after 2?
Klein: Well, that’s a spoiler, dude.

Cinema Blend have a review of the Streetfighter film- more at the link:
Anyone who actually bothers to buy a ticket to Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li will no doubt do so with reasonably low expectations. You can only ask so much from this kind of movie and all it really needs to do in order to be successful is outlined in the title. It needs fighting. In the streets. Do that and though you may get terrible reviews, you can walk away with your head held high. Chun Li is so utterly inept, it’s incapable of even that. It’s a meandering, confused, and worst of all boring crime syndicate accounting which takes forever to unfold and does everything it can to avoid actual fighting.
When fighting can no longer be avoided, Chun Li cuts its big battles short. A fight scene between Chun Li and Vega for instance, is built up, and then over in thirty seconds. The boxer Balrog faces off against Gen… and is defeated in under a minute by a faulty steam pipe. It’s not going to surprise anyone to know that Street Fighter is no Oscar winner, and I have no desire to waste time ripping it for its lack of subtly or frequently ****ty acting. But what’s so disheartening, and in a way infuriating, is that it can’t even deliver the barest of bare-knuckle guilty pleasures promised by its genre. What’s left? Nothing.

Shadow of the Colossus to be made into a movie
Sony and Team Ico's beloved PlayStation 2 adventure game Shadow of the Colossus is set to become an actual feature film, claim Variety and The Hollywood Report.
The film will be written by Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li scribe Justin Marks, with The Scorpion King and Dune remake producer Kevin Misher serving as producer.
Variety adds that some of the smaller characters from the solitary game may be given more prominent roles in the movie, such as the men hunting protagonist Wander.
Released in 2005, the game centers around one man's quest to bring his beloved, Mono, back to life. To do this, Wander and his steed Agro must explore the vast open-world to discover and defeat 16 giant colossi--the only enemies in the game.

Silent Hill 2 could be forthcoming...
Bloody Disgusting sat down with actress Radha Mitchell on the set of Breck Eisner's The Crazies. In-between talking about the remake and Romero's original, Mitchell dropped a few vague mentions of a sequel to the Christophe Gans-directed videogame adaptation Silent Hill. Is there a chance that viewers can expect another visit to everybody's favorite fog-covered town? Radha thinks so…
"I don't know what's going on with that. I think they're kicking it around…I don't think Christophe is attached. That is a shame because he's a nutter but he's so passionate about the game."
With regard to the insane monsters in the poorly-scripted, though incredibly good-looking film, Mitchell, adds, "I'm sure they will [do a sequel] but I'm not sure what incarnation it will be. If there is I want to come back as a monster or like some crazy creature."

Bioshock movie on hold....
When news broke a few weeks ago that director Gore Verbinski was abandoning the next installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise to make Bioshock, most thought the film would be fast tracked. Now though, it’s all on hold.
Variety reports that production on the film has stalled, due to disagreements over the budget. Universal has gone so far as to start laying off production staff, hired to work on the film.
In short, Verbinski’s latest budget estimates have risen, putting the cost of making the film at $160 million. At that price, Universal is suddenly less interested in getting it done. That doesn’t mean they aren’t making it, word is that Universal and Verbinski are looking for ways to cut costs. Shooting in London for instance, may be an option. Verbinski still insists they’re making it, but for now though, the movie’s on hold.
Bioshock is based on a noir-like videogame about an underwater, reto-future city. For anyone who’s played the game, it’s probably no surprise that making it could be pretty expensive. It’s hard not to think about the budget troubles which killed Peter Jackson’s attempt to make Halo. There too the problem was simply cost, studios aren’t willing to invest top dollar in video game based movies since to date, no video game based movie has actually made all that much money. Both Universal and Verbinski have vowed not to let Bioshock fall down the Halo hole, but we’ll see.

Jake Gyllenhaal has been lost in the desert for months now, filming his next big summer blockbuster Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It’s based on the video game of the same name and maybe, just maybe it’ll also be the first video game to movie adaptation which actually works.
The first ever footage from the film debuted this week on television and the internet being what it is, it’s now also online.

Tomb Raider is going to be rebooted:
Word of a new Tomb Raider film – “a reboot, if you will” – has been floating around for awhile. In an interview with About.com at the Terminator: Salvation premiere, producer Dan Lin confirms the film is currently in the works.
“We’re rebooting Lara Croft,” he says. “It’s a great origin story that we’re gonna tell.”
He goes on to affirm that the film will still have action, but will focus on character, and will be “more realistic” than previous films.
Lin’s only comment on casting is that nothing has been decided, but a since the film is an origin story, they’re looking to pick up a younger Lara Croft. Because Angeline Jolie is positively ancient; have you seen her lately? Even Brad is like, totally done with her. Rumors have put Megan Fox in the role of Lara Croft for the new film, which was immediately praised by our own Hamza Aziz as the “greatest idea to come out of Hollywood since Citizen Kane.”
"For me, the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action oriented," Lin adds. "I wanted to have action, but with character."

Castlevania movie put on hold; dead?
It was supposed to be a Paul W.S. Anderson production (he of the Resident Evil trilogy fame), with Sylvain White heading the directorial duties. Apparently, however, the directorial job was passed onto new folks, which then led the development of the film into "development hell". First announced in 2007, the production has, in fact, gone through a lot of ups and (mosty) downs, including a postponement in production due to the writers' strike.
It was also said that the story was supposed to focus on the origins of Dracula and the uprising of the Belmont Clan. They would be the vampire-slaying family who only happens to be humanity's last hope against the blood-sucking fiends.

World of warcraft movie to be directed by.......Sam Raimi:
Blizzard and Legendary Pictures announced today that Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the motion picture based on the Warcraft universe.
“At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story,” said Raimi. “I am thrilled to work with such a dynamite production team to bring this project to the big screen.”
Charles Roven (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins) is set to produce, and Blizzard senior VP of creative development, Chris Metzen, will co-produce.
“Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures have a shared vision for this film and we searched at length to find the very best director to bring that vision to life,” said Paul Sams, chief operating officer of Blizzard.
“From our first conversation with Sam, we could tell he was the perfect choice. Sam knows how to simultaneously satisfy the enthusiasts and the mainstream audience that might be experiencing that content for the first time. We’re looking forward to working with him to achieve that here.”

inFamous to become a movie:
When our Games Editor Pete Haas reviewed the Sucker Punch game inFamous in May, he wrote that it was a more narrative-driven experience than most games, and some of the art in it was so gorgeous that he wouldn't be surprised to see a graphic novel adaptation. Well, they've gone and done it one better-- inFamous will become a movie at Sony, now that the studio has picked up a pitch from screenwriter Sheldon Turner.
Turner got paid seven figures for the deal, according to THR; he's got a scattered history, putting his name to both The Longest Yard remake as well as the upcoming Jason Reitman film Up in the Air. He told THR, "What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc. It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is."

Halo Movie Lives?
August 8, 2009 - The much-anticipated Halo movie, which died a premature death after Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson tried to get it off the ground a couple of years back, may be alive again. And not just that, but it may have an even bigger name than Jackson's attached to it as producer now…Steven Spielberg
IESB is reporting that "Spielberg is blown away by writer Stuart Beattie's take on the game in his script entitled Halo the Fall of Reach. This coupled with the fact that his DreamWorks umbrella is looking for a big tent pole to help launch their newly independent [sic] studio with distribution over at Walt Disney Pictures after losing Transformers to Paramount in the separation, it's the perfect combination."
The report also notes how Spielberg actor Shia LaBeouf has been talking about how the director is fascinated with the game Bioshock lately, and also that word has it that "CAA, who rep both Spielberg and Beattie, is pushing these negotiations heavily."
IGN: Halo Movie Lives?
This is something I was excited for a while back. I cant really say I care too much for it anymore.
